Hey guys i own a Nikon D3200 camera and i have tried altering the configuration but still taking black pictures. I have even reset the config, all of them and still nothing. Does someone know what could be the problem?

Have you removed the front cap from the lens?

Just what I was going to ask. It's not black, it's the inside of your lens cap.

Is it on manual with a really short shutter speed and really small aperture, possibly low Iso?

Are the pictures completely black or just very dark?

If completely black there could be a problem with the sensor, if not then it could be with the cameras exposure system.

Are all pictures always black, or do you get any normal exposures? Do you get any exif data with pictures?

Maybe he means it is set in a black & white mode and he can't get it back to color.

Certainly can't tell what is going on.

Of course, this is a first post by someone who joined 5 days ago. So there could be another possibility.

It takes several days for new posts to be approved by the moderator. Thus there is a time delay in his replies to any advice. Or he just got bored and went away and no longer looks at DPR.

Does it also happen on the fully automatic mode?

Will a modern DSLR with default settings even take a shot with the lens cover on?

Or it's an antiDSLR troll trying to imply exposure preview is superior....

It is a shame if we drive away new forum members by treating them with unwarranted suspicion.
It has now been a week since this thread was initiated and the OP has not made a reappearance.

So it looks like you are correct. We have driven a new forum member away by treating him with "unwarranted suspicion". There can be no other possible explanation, right?

My first guess, the camera is broken.

I'm sure there are lots of possible explanations, and it is quite likely we will never know the real reasons, but in the absence of anything incriminating I'd rather give the OP the benefit of the doubt.

There are posts all over theses forums by new posters with only one post and they never come back.

It's possible some get their answer and feel no need to respond or others might get scared off by the harsh responses.

Or, and this is the one I think is the likeliest, the forum is posting to generate more activity on these boards to generate hits.

I understand that posters have to make their first post but I find it odd that in almost all cases recently the poster never makes more than one post. If they did get their answer then surely they have other questions or input but they never participate after that first post.

Just my theory and I'm probablly wrong but there it is.

I am really sorry guys that i didnt reply. I kinda gave up on the camera and this time i had some days off and went back to it. My camera is still taking black pictures. When i look through the eye its clear, and when i take a picture its black on all modes. And btw i m really sorry i wasnt very clear on my problem.

In the beginning when this problem occurred the picture were half black now they are all black.
