Pet, not a cat or dog

I've had this pet rock since I was a kid. He is 585,000,048 years old. I was told he was 585,000,000 years old when I got him and I've had him for nearly 50 years.

He has a very quiet temperament despite his fiery scottish origins.

He regularly acts as a door stop, something you would never get a cat to do.

If he ever got into a fight with my neighbours cat I would put my money on him. :-)

Only the little white rose of Scotland
That smells sharp and sweet—and breaks the heart.

And you don't get blurry pictures due to heavy breathing.

Much easier to photograph all round really. Can use flash without concern. The colour doesn't give rise to exposure issues (unlike our mostly black cat).

Had some company while having a morning coffee on the back deck this summer. Baby red squirrel came and sat about 3 feet away and even let me go get the camera and come back, then posed for a few portraits....

Still hanging around, think he is living in the firewood stack. Not nearly as skittish as the other squirrels around here.

Great shot. Sadly only grey squirrels in our garden. The occasional fox, a hedge hog or two, some slow worms (aka legless lizard) and bats somewhere (our cat has caught a few).

It will be abundantly clear I don't know what I'm doing yet, but it's not going to stop me from posting blurry/grainy turtle pics. I've been chomping at the bit for my camera to come in so I could contribute to this thread.
