Thanks to this forum, I have been enjoying my Fuji S602 for about a month now - what a great camera!

After the last few soccer tournaments, I realized that the sun rarely cooperates with me and I am going to need a teleconverter lesnse to shoot across the field (at least to get the shot I want). I went to the local camera store and looked at several lenses. The Olympus lense they had - 1.45 (didn't have the 1.7) was VERY heavy, plus I wasn't excited about only getting 1.45. They recommended the Canon TC-DC58N which is a 1.75. I searched this forum for any discussion of this particular lense and couldn't find any. Has anyone used this teleconverter lense with their S602?? I would appreciate any comments, good or bad, :)

I did try this lens in a camera shop, and the results were just "ok".
Chromatic aberrations.

I use the Olympus C-210 1.9x which I am happy with. Not as good or large or heavy as the TCON-17, but it works for me. Here's some baseball shots using it.

The canon 58 is a lens that will work with the 602, but I will admit your money is better spent on another lens. The 58 is a little soft and has some noticeable CA that can be distracting. I have found the colors are not as true in lower lighting when using the 58.

Over all it depends on what your looking to do with the lens. With doing soccer photos, your probally going to want a lense that has a large useable zoom so you can zoom and and out much more freely. The problem is that most lenses that have large useable zooms, usually do not have much power. As for a lens with some nice useable zoom, well there are alot. TCON-14B (1.45X), Canon TL-55 (1.4), TCON-14 (1.45X), TCON-17/B-300 (1.7X), or the A-200 (1.5X) Most of theses lens have some useable zooms, I will admit the ones marked with the 1.4-1.45X useally will have a much more useable zoom.

After useing alot of TC's an still owning a wide selection, I will say that Olympus probally leads the field in the TC selection as far as quality and price go.

If they make it, I STACK-IT
Dreaming about a MORE POWER

I would suggest finding the TCON17 if I were you. I use the B300 for soccer all the time, the TCON17 is the new version of the B300. Here are some of my soccer pics, these are older ones I have many newer ones, just dont have a lot of webspace to put em up on.

. . . I did compare the Kenko VC-200 HI (2X) with the Olympus TCON-17 (1.7X). Both of these I find quite adequate, and both cost about 100 $USD. You might look at:

The experts on this forum seem to overwhelmingly favor the TCON-17 TC. It might hold up better at higher resolutions than I typically view & print. Personally I don't see anything to really get excited about.

Good luck, I find the TC a useful addition to the Fuji S02.

Thanks to everyone for their replies. I cannot find a TCON 1.7 lense anywhere right now. I went ahead and bought the Canon last night and I am going to try it out tonight with our first game of the season. I will try to post some pictures if and when pbase ever gets back up and working ;)
