Georgeous shots, Gary. Nice vivid colors, nice compositions, and nice exposures.
Looks like you were walking thru peoples backyards? Might get shot doing that in Georgia?????

Thanks Marie! Some credit for this one has to go to the two pair of geese. When they saw us they came swimming toward us and gave the landscape some real interest.Wow, very nice! I especially love the first one.

Nice shots, Gary. I'm so envious of all you guys getting pictures of autumn colors. We're 12 inches below normal for rainfall. Leaves went from green to brown in a day. We had three consecutive years of above average color. I guess this is payback.

I'd say you described the differences between the two crops perfectly. It certainly is a trade-off of emphasizing some aspects versus others, which is why I would only say what I offered is "alternate", not "better".
Here are some of my thoughts. Compare my image with how you cropped it. Notice how the reflection in the water is an integral part of my composition. You cropped half of the reflection out. You also put the horizon in the center which takes away from the composition and makes it look static. Go back and forth between them and see if my composition doesn't have a three dimensional depth which is lacking in your crop.
I learn from these conversations too, thanks for talking with meI'll look forward to your thoughts. I really enjoy hearing the ideas of others. Again, thank you for your input.
Okay dokay, here's an idea for a 3:2 crop. It's not the 3000x2000 you need for your surface book, so it won't look as sharp as the original you posted.Oh, one other trivial thing. The display on my Microsoft Surface Book has a 3:2 aspect ratio which is also the aspect ratio of my RX10M3. My image fits my display perfectly for a desktop image! ;-)

Either is fine IMOI thought it might be of interest to see a comparison between the JPG that the camera originally gave me and my final image after Lightroom RAW editing.

Click on the first image and then go back and forth between them with left and right arrow keys. On my color calibrated display the difference is not subtle.Either is fine IMOI thought it might be of interest to see a comparison between the JPG that the camera originally gave me and my final image after Lightroom RAW editing.

I just did that, and while they both are good images, I like the brightened enhanced saturation from your lightroom edits. Has a Thomas Kincade feel to it, but tastefully done and not overboard IMO.Click on the first image and then go back and forth between them with left and right arrow keys.
