So, I have spent a lot of time looking at alternatives to the NX1 purely because of the lack of support/lenses. However, the more I looked at other cameras, the more i realised they are pure compromises - always comparing them back to my NX1. X-t2 is great but you need the battery grip, no touch screen and handling (grip) not my thing. Battery life was average too. The latest oly mark 2 - CRAZY money AND the photo quality looks pretty average if I am honest. Comparing a lot of photos side by side, details are very mushy at or above iso 1000.

So what do I do? I bought another NX1! A quite incredible deal on ebay meant I got the NX1, 16-50s, SEF-42A flash, battery grip, SD cards, spare batteries for £1298. I originally started looking for maybe the NX500 - but when this came up, I couldn't resist.

Note that I also contacted samsung earlier in the week about repairs, and they said they will continue to repair the camera/ lenses if something happens.

In the end, I couldn't let go of the NX1 - I had no complaints other than lack of support/ lenses. But with the 16-50, I have the focal length i wanted at a very good price. I might sell the second body but thats insurance really (if the other one goes).

I do however need a bigger camera bag now....any suggestions for:
  • 2 x NX1
  • 16-50s
  • 85mm
  • 45mm
  • 12-24mm
  • Battery grip
  • Flash
Thanks

Well done, obviously NX is going to be ace for a couple more years.

Lowepro, as mentioned, are excellent bags and I still have my first one, and it is like new. if you want something different though, I am very pleased with my Quovio, I have a NX1/NX500/NX3000 in one of the small ones, a little packed, but ok.

Thanks!

I have also been looking at kata bags. I currently own a tenba shoulder bag but even with the kit I currently have, I realised its not that comfortable.

That's a cracking deal, how did I miss that? But seriously I'm not in a position to buy another nx1, I did manage to secure a deal on an immaculate nx500 a few weeks ago for under £400 so I'm happy!

Good news that Samsung will continue to repair, does this apply to out of warranty as well? You're in the UK?

Kata bags are excellent, I still use one for video cameras, but they are not Kata anymore, Manfrotto acquired the company, but the quality is still the same (I read an interview and some statements a while back).

Petrol (I use them for audio equipment) merged with Sachtler, and LowePro is an excellent brand I truly recomend.

Lowel seem more classic to me, Kata have excellent quality, Petrol were quite innovative for some years, and Benro has some relatively cheap, good ones. Relatively cheap but ok, are also the Cullmann (designed in Germany.)

Lately I went for Vanguard and I find them very modern, good quality, and clever design. Another good one is this http://www.vanguardworld.com/photo_video/products/camera-bags/xcenior-41.html#go-sectionTop

Well done you as I was also looking at that but only for the grip and then sell the rest. The seller had the same package on UK Gumtree for £1000. Maybe I should have jumped at it .

I didnt realise the grip was such a bargain too. I personally dont/ havent used it. If I dont get on with it, would you be interested?

Thanks!

Some excellent suggestions thank you. I can see from your recommendations that you have a lot of kit...!

I need a backpack with quick access. Leaning toward vanguard at the moment

Definitely . ☺

Great to hear! Was it used or new? If used...in which conditions?

Sooner or later I'll get another nx1 body, but I'd like a body only offer for a near mint camera.

Well actually its quite sad. It is sold as new because it was bought by the sellers dad who passed away before using it extensively. Could be a story of course but quite a tale to tell! Photos appear to show it in mint condition. Will take a few photos and get the actuation count though.

You can check the shutter count with otto's script.

Found otto shutter count. Between both nx1 bodies I have <10k. Very new and since they are rated for 150k each, I should be good unless something else shanks them.

As for bag, I settled for this (arrives tomorrow).

Manfrotto also running a promotion where they are giving out a nilox action cam free with it. I bought on amazon for £20 cheaper and the free cam promotion still works - will sell it almost immediately as I have no use for it.

No guaranteed future in any make now and the NX1 is starting to look extraordinary value compared with some of the recent stuff coming out elsewhere. Much of the remaining market is probably in a big price hike to avoid following Samsung in to the abyss.
