Anyone that has used both the SLT A-mount cameras (A77II, A99) and the Sony E-mount cameras (A7II, A7RII) etc. Can you describe your experience? Specifically with regards to the EVF. Is the only difference the 1/3 stop loss of light due to the SLT mirror? It appears the new A99II will encompass the same fast refresh rate as the A6300. Will it combine the best of both worlds between the A6300 (AF/Refresh) and the A7RII? (Resolution, IBIS).

I've recently become more interested in fast action, long lenses, etc where the A7RII still appears to struggle in some instances, especially when trying to track with something like an adapted 150mm-600mm. I've also heard the handling can be subpar with lenses like the new 24-70mm GM where the larger grip of the A99II would benefit.

On the other hand, I am disappointed to see that the new Sigma 85mm f1.4 will not be available in either A-mount or E-mount. Given Sigma's track record I expect this lens to rival or exceed the GM for IQ and would definitely like the option to use it in the future, even if adapted. E-mount still looks like the better choice for "future proofing" since the Canon version should work well with MC-11.

The 1st batches are all sold out of the 99II....the next run will be in the spring.
i'm not surprised at that, there is more technology in the a99ii than there is in the a7rii... for example, the evf hardware looks similar, but the refresh rate is better than the a7rii, and it has 15.?x magnification.

i don't see the a99ii as some crippled stopgap measure to appease a few a-mount owners, i think that sony gave it all they had... we'll get most of that latest tech with an a9 or whatever, but unless there is a new version of the laea4, will e-mount ever get the same degree of af capability.

Well I need to see review anyway, before going for it, might still go for E-mount if the hybrid system isen't compatible with non Sony lenses.

If I can get full AF with my current lenses, E mount with adapters give the same or better over all options. However A99 II do have features non other haves, like potentially the fastest AF in any Sony camera.

But lack of build in GPS, no MFNR, non compatible hybrid AF etc., make A9RII seems more like my need - although the handling and size of A99 II is vastly superior. A9x cameras handling is subpar to A-mount cameras.

Tough to decipher your intent here. Perhaps you meant "a7Rii seems more like your need"? In which case I guess you are also trying to say that you consider a7x cameras handling subpar to A-mount cameras, (as the a99II is an a9x camera)??

YES, YES, YES! I am completely and entirely in the Sony camp and I'm trying to work around the weather sealing and durability. I've worn out the A6000 and my long lens is sticking so I'm wondering if I just consider the duplication a cost of doing business and consider them essentially disposable.
