Why there is no strap eyelet on my refurbished D750

I just bought a refurbished D750 from buydig.com. Quite a few odd things.

First, it does not come with the eyelet for camera strap (a.k.a. strap ring). So, basically, the DC14 neck strap provided becomes useless. I can't attack the strap to the camera without the rings.

Is it normal for you guys bought factory refurbished Nikon DSLR?

On top of that, the camera also does not have software CD in it. I thought Nikon Refurbished products do provide software CD in the package. I don't need that CD, but it is just odd that the CD is not in my package. Did Buydig took it out? I thought refurbished Nikon is sealed. Resellers are not supposed to open it.

Please help me on this. Thank you.

NEW USA Nikon boxes are not sealed, perhaps this has changed for refurbs.

Nikon makes no DSLR cameras without strap lugs, so I can't imagine what happened.

I know they need this. But are they supposed to come with the camera?

i just feel bad why mine doesn't have them. Should I return the camera?

so it looks like no CD-rom comes with a refurb

I would return the camera and save for a new not used D750. The camera should be ready to take a camera strap with no extra effort when the camera is new.

I have removed one side to use a Spider hand strap system instead of a traditional neck strap. I also have a L plate on my D750 and use black rapid strap with a Arca Swiss connection adaptor. Meaning I don't use the tripod screw on the bottom of my camera at all

Thanks. I am inclined to return it now. It just does not make sense for a factory refurbished camera without something that is supposed to be there.

Do you guys think it is Buydig's fault or Nikon's fault?

Anyway, I hate my first refurbished experience ends up like this.

I wouldn't worry about the CD anything on it will be out of date so you may as well download it from the Nikon website.

As for the strap lugs that's a more serious matter. They are part of the camera and are not a separate item in the box so should be attached.

"Refurbished" is too vague a term to associate any hard and fast "should have"s with.

"Factory Refurbished" needs to be elaborated - has this camera actually been reconditioned by Nikon? (It could have been refurbished in a fish factory) You will need to check the buydig terms of service or phone their customer helpline to determine if your expectations are in line with what they guarantee.

I am not surprised in the condition of the camera - usually 2nd hand goods are sold on as-is and only removed from the box to verify basic functionality (& sometimes a light clean). I doubt buydig have ready access to Nikon spares.

Buydig? Refurbished? Return it if they will take it.

Personally I have had mixed experiences with used camera gear so I prefer to always buy new or save longer. Items that don't bother me as much to buy used would be flashes, bags, filters, tripod/monopod. Things that are not too much electronic, not too many moving parts.

The times I have sold on Ebay I am up front with everything, the last thing I want is a return when I am taking your money most likely I already have it spent for what I am trying to buy to offset cost.

For sake of refurbished Nikon to my knowledge the only one that sells Nikon refurbished is Nikon directly and you can buy from Nikon directly.

Look, I personally think never make excuses for camera gear new or used. If you think something is off or not right it won't get better. However, one must be sure this is not user error or lack or user knowledge like this camera won't auto focus but the body switch is set to M or something like that

My fault. He clearly said "eyelet" and I thought "strap lug" which is what Leica calls the pieces indeterminately attached to the body. Altogether different. What I get for thinking :)

With no problem other than these things being missing, I'd just get a couple off eBay and be done with. Should have been there anyway, but what the hell. It's more trouble and expensive to rerun.

The CD is downloadable, and not worth much anyway.

You're overestimating what factory refurbished means. It was probably a customer return. The customer did who know what with it, didn't like it, sent it back to Nikon, Nikon did a quick look over/functions check/clean, determined it was okay resell, then listed the camera as refurbished AT A DISCOUNT PRICE. Seems like you're expecting brand spanking new, at a discounted price.

I think my expectation is high because so many people online talking about how good refurbished cameras are. They always say they are like new type of used or certified used.

At the end, I don't think missing the neck strap rings is considered refurbished condition. It is a small item, but giving a whole lot of trouble.

I probably are not going to buy another refurbished product anytime soon.

True.

Wish you get many years of trouble free service for the camera and beautiful memories for life.

A lot of people would say the same for any second hand gear - but varience between sellers obviously makes feedback about individual sellers irrelevent outside the ebay feedback system so most people won't wax lyrical about this on forums generally.

Some stores will take better care refurbishing than others so this info is useful and people will share it. For example I hear a lot of good things about Greys of Westminster, thus I would have confidence buying 2nd hand goods from them. I have never heard of buydig so I would have less confidence.

Presence of a neck strap ring is not implicit in the phrase "refurbished" - I expect items to be missing when buying 2nd hand (albeit this is one of the less common items to be omitted). Again, note what I said above - some stores build a good reputation for refurbished items and some do not. I would be eager to reward stores that earn this reputation with my custom.
I probably are not going to buy another refurbished product anytime soon.
At least you get a guarantee and can return the item. This makes the deal a no-brainer to me (the distance selling act protects me, legislation in your area of the world may differ), if you don't like it just put it back.

Thats a lot of reassurance you will not get buying used.

Do you feel you got a great price? What is the shutter count and does everything else about the camera work properly? If you did get a great price and everything works, then just install new eyelets if possible.
