They say there's something wrong with the Olympus 9-18?

I'm so tempted to get one, but I struggle with the the Oly 17mm fov, so I keep thinking I won't be able to get on with the wider angle! With the cash back offer I can pick one up for £285 at the moment though!!!
You are a longer focal length guy, obviously. If you got the 9-18 on your camera, though, and started doing a bit of work in the 9mm range, you might find it was better for you than the 17mm, simply because it is so far out of your "normal" zone, you would have to consciously look for pix.

FOREGROUND is the great thing with such a wide lens. Look at the OP's post. His first pic is good, but his second pic with the fence rails is a superb example of UWA photography.

I like it and use it a lot.

There's something wrong with mine. It freezes when focusing passed the 14mm mark, AF or MF.
Sounds like your lens may have the same problem mine developed several months ago after about 4 yrs of intensive use. It would not focus or let me take a photo in the 15-18 zoom range. I suspected a partially cracked ribbon cable from all the extending, retracting, and zooming I had done over the years (I tend to put the lens back in its retracted position after every few shots). I sent it in to Olympus and had it fixed in a week for about $160. Unfortunately, the repair documentation was too vague to confirm or refute my diagnosis of a ribbon cable failure. The collapsible design may not be ideal in this respect, but it's a price I'm willing to pay for its small size.

The other UWA options in m43 look very nice, but are too large and heavy for my purposes. Most of my photo taking happens on week-long backpack trips, so size and weight are critical. I do have my eye on the new Laowa 7.5mm f/2. If it turns out to be any good and is reasonably priced, it might be a nice, even wider addition to my 9-18.

It's all academic now unfortunately, as the price has jumped up by over £200 over night! Guess I'll have to hold off for a while.
Aah, bad luck. Keep a watch out for it, though, you never know when it will go on special offer again. It really is a worthwhile lens to have.
It's on my Xmas list so I was pi$$ed to see the recent price jump too. I keep checking in hope...
