I do not think I like the skin tones. Would like to see some red in the faces.

I know you've owned dozens of cameras. I'm sure that some have met your standards in the skin tone department. Don't take this the wrong way, you seem obsessed with that. And maybe what you've seen to date should tell you all you need to know to take a pass on the RX 100 V. No need to get red in the face about it...so to speak!

Hmm... going by the thread there's some history between you two...

Anyway, I don't think this is the camera or settings that result in the pale skin. It IS the model! We get many Japanese visitors here on the Gold Coast and they take great care to avoid any sun. Fair skin tone is seen as desireable as I understand it. Perhaps one of our Asian members can verify that or put me straight but I understood a tan is unattractive in their cultures. Just my hunch.

No I normally think of my family as Americans from Europeans. My RX100 iii makes them look pale white. My Canon G7Xii gives them a tan, some color. At first I was struck by the huge difference. I kind of liked it but I doubted myself. The dpreview samples were different for the V from the III. But then I started getting requests for prints and emailed jpegs. And compliments.

Definitely don't have an issue with my M4. Which Creative Style do you shoot? Or do you shoot RAW? Neutral appears a little pale to me. Either way, it's something you can control in-camera for jpeg or in PP.
