Any information on the remote control app for the Sony A99ii?

Has anyone seen anything in any of the various YouTube and other Internet videos introducing the A 99ii about the remote control app for the camera? I know that the general collection of Play Memories apps are not going to work on this camera, but on the A 77ii they did allow a remote control app that unfortunately was a joke. It was really useless and I'm hoping that on their brand-new flagship camera they don't put out something that poorly executed. The reason I'm asking is I've gotten used to the luxury of having great remote control on the RX 10iii when it's on a tripod. So I'm imagining using the A 99ii in a similar mode when shooting wildlife. But if the remote control app is as useless as the one for the A 77ii, it's not worth bothering with.

Does anyone have any information?

Thanks in advance . . .

Dougl - have exactly the same question - was pouring over the spec sheet for a clue. The blurb talks about remote-control this and that but looks similar sadly to a77ii sadly and hope am proven wrong...

The time lapse app seems to have been implemented as a feature on the 99ii however

I've been asking the same question for weeks with no viable answer. Hopefully it will be better than the pitiful app for the A77ii. I actually spoke with a Sony person about a possible firmware update for the A77ii, but he dismissed it as not being technically possible!

That suggests that more than wifi is needed for the app and some kind of API, as Craig mentioned, needs to be supported perhaps in ROM.

A99ii is not on the list of cameras that support the wireless camera API. If it doesn't end up on that list I wouldn't expect much in the way of remote control software. If it does, lots of things are possible.
Very interesting find there Craig - notably the RX10iii is omitted so perhaps it's not a very undated list, which gives us still some slim hope for eventually having a decent app.

It may (or may not) be technically possible. If it is technically possible, it may require extensive code changes that Sony is not willing to make on a production camera. I can understand this to some extent. Among other things introduction of new bugs or defects is definitely a marketing no no and the more code you change, the more chance of them escaping into the real world.

It may not be just a case of grabbing code from E-mount and patching it in. A-mount may very well have a significantly different code base.
