£310 is historically low, according to camerapricebuster.co.uk. The only lower price wasn't, really - the supplier had no stock (I know, I tried to buy one. Ended up getting a used one)

There have been reports that this lens fails in use due to fragile internal ribbon cables which flex in use & then break.

Is this a rare occurrence, user experience & comments please?

All I can say is mine hasn't failed yet. I really like this lens - tiny, light, and quality good enough for me.

Works like a charm, haven't had any problems with it whatsoever.

Great price for a great lens

Great price for a highly underrated lens TBH. I recently found it almost permanently attached to my GX8 whilst travelling. It's a wide andgle and street photography lens in one tiny package, with the ability to attach filters

No problems here since early 2015 (I bought mine refurb from Olympus @USD399). I use it mainly as a 9mm/4.0 rectilinear 'prime'.

Yes historic low and good spot.

When Olympus had cashbacks, this lens had 120 or 100 once or twice which resulted in much lower than 300 final price. I am sure some people might be waiting for another campaign ;)
