Bought an A6300 relatively recently (and before you say anything, yes I know the A6500 has just come out) and I have a few Canon L series lenses I'd like to use with it for video making in particular.

Which lens adapter would you recommend? Obviously the Metabones is probably the best but at £500 it is a bit pricey. I'd appreciate it if you guys could recommend any other alternatives and if so what are their pros and cons are. Thanks.

Try to do some forum research and include your specific lens and camera combination.

I own a Fotga ef nex that can be gotten for under $35 including shipping. Mechanical quality of the contacts on the canon side is not great, but it is the cheapest available and fine if you just leave it on the lens. No experience how it works with your equipment though, on my A6000 all adapters are mediocre at best.

If you will often take the Canon lens off the adapter, my recommendation is to get something more robust.

BTW I think the Metabones advantage was mostly with AF on pre-A6300 / pre-FF 'II' cameras.

I have the Fotodiox and Metabones IV adapters. The Metabones adapter focuses faster and works with a much higher percentage of my Canon and Sigma (EOS mount) lenses. The Fotodiox is decent, but the Metabones is better. I picked mine up used on eBay, and that saved me around $100 compared to new.

The nice thing about the Metabones IV is that you can update it via USB.

I am using a Yongnuo adapter for my EF lenses, and it works superbly. I bought mine second hand for $35; you can find them on Amazon for $76.50 from this link: https://www.amazon.com/YONGNUO-Smar...5941738&sr=1-2&keywords=yongnuo+ef+to+e+mount

Every lens I have tried on it has worked; however, with the STM lenses, I have noticed that I cannot do manual focusing (requires power from the lens mount, which the Yongnuo doesn't supply enough of). AF works great on it, though. Also, communications with my A6000 with the aperture is spot on.

I know pretty much nothing about adapters, so please use small words and type slowly.

Does the Sigma MC-11 adapter allow a person to use current Canon FF lenses on Sony APS/C E-Mount cameras? The advertising blurb makes it sound like the lenses would be fully functional, including EXIF information, but there is room for doubt. Obviously, Sigma doesn't want to actually name Canon in their product information.

Assuming it does, how does it compare to the newest Metabones adapter? The Sigma is cheaper if nothing else.

Another question if you please: The Canon APS/C sensor is a little smaller than Sony sensors, so I wonder if Canon APS/C lenses adapted to Sony cameras result in any noticeable vignetting? Thanks

I use a fotodioX auto adapter with the A6000 and while IS works on the EF-S 55-250, autofocus doesn't.

I tried the same adapter on an A6300 in a Best Buy store and it autofocus seemed to work. Look for other threads on this forum - this issue was discussed a lot when the A6300 came out.

Search for metabones or fotodioX.
