Hello,

has anybody used/tried a remote shuttle (cable) on the GX8 yet? I've got an original DMW-RS1 which does work on the G6 - even though both the G6 and GX8 manuals state DMW-RSL1 as compatible. It does not work on my GX8. Is there some (electrical) difference between RS1 and RSL1? One can find many third-party models which are said to be compatible with both RS1 and RSL1.... The original DMW-RSL1 is quite expensive just for testing if there is a problem with my GX8. And yes, I do know about the WLAN features - but a cable remote has advantages.

Thanks, Lutz

GOOD NEWS

I reached out to some trusted sources who confirmed that the GX8 can have difficulty recognizing the wired remote. They also confirmed that any previously released version of the remote is compatible. A firmware update is in the works, and the US (TX) service facility will have it before it's released. For anyone outside the US, sometime in November is what I hear.
I can confirm that firmware 2.0, released today, fixes my remote shutter problems.

It's main feature is to introduce "post focus" functionality.

Yes, as alcelc said, on a GX7 you really have to make sure the wire is inserted fully therefore maybe it is a similar situation on a GX8.
An old thread, this but I had exactly the same problem till I pressed the contact firmly into the camera body, thanks!
