I just got my X-T2 this week and find that Photoshop CS6 will not open the raw files, even though the Adobe site shows that some version (?) of PS will open X-T2 raw files. I am current with the PS v6 updates and I know that the CC version does open them as I have that at work. PS 6 does still open my X-E1 RAF files, with the older sensor. Anyone else experience this specifically with PS v6 and the newest sensor?

You're out of luck. Adobe stopped updating CS6 with new camera support a while ago. You have 2 options. Download the Adobe DNG converter (free) and convert your X-T2 files to DNG. You can then continue to use CS6. Your only alternative to that is to switch software... PS CC, Lightroom, whatever.

If anyone is following this thread, I installed the Adobe DNG converter and it does not recognize the RAF extension at all, not older or newer. All I see is white space in the folder holding the files, as if it was empty. Anyone else have this issue?

Make sure you have selected the folder that has the RAF files in the DNG converter and then just hit convert and it should put the new DNG files back into the same folder. The RAF files do no show up when I convert.

Hi, I now have a Fujifilm X-T2 and was expecting to use the DNG converter (I downloaded 9.7.0 ) to be able to process the files with CS6. The converter process does function and creates DNG files, BUT when the files are opened via CS6 bridge in ACR (9.1.1), they are in black and white. I've researched (google) without luck.

Thanks,

Paul

No loss anyway as PS will be the same as LR which is the worst RAW converter for Fuji at present.

Use PhotoNinja. Its not that expensive and it does the best job I have found so far out of

Silkypix, RAW Therapee, Lightroom.

Once you save in jpeg or tiff you can then do any Photoshop work in PS 6.

Greg.

When you open the DNG file, are all the sliders set to zero? Could you possibly have them set for some custom setting?

Hi Paul,

I experienced something similar using the newest version of ACR in Photoshop and the original RAW file from the X-Pro2. I was constantly getting B&W in ACR. I found that the Raw program is standard set to the Acros film mode. Now every time I have to set it to an other film mode of my choice.

PhotoNinja doesn't allow output in DNG only TIF or JPG. The new Lightroom CC is much improved but you still have to set your presets correctly so that it will do a good job at conversion.

Hi Etienne,

This is what is happening. I can open the DNG file in other software and it is in color. When in ACR (I can see that the ACROS profile is being applied). But, under CS6 there does not seem to be a direct way to change the profile - there are no other choices in the drop-down.

Thanks,

Paul

Hello Paul,

That is strange. Sorry I have no answers as I no longer have any copies of CS6 so I can't check it here. The darn thing is, I'm using the X-pro2 and this behavior of always opening the Raw in the Acros profile in ACR started after problems I had with the Adobe CC when I got the Windows anniversary update. Also the highlights warning is always on.

I wonder if there are any other users of the CC that use Windows that are experiencing the same issue?

Regards,

Etienne

Hi Etienne,

Thanks for the reply. (I only saw it today as I inadvertently had shut off getting email replies.) Yes, when I open my DNG file is see black & white because the ACROS profile is selected. It is the only profile in the drop-down box. Do I download other profile? I've searched the internet and could not find a download link from Fujifilm. Note: I'm in ACR (not LR) under PS CS6.

Hi Paul,

I too use ACR but am using Photoshop (CC). The profiles, I believe, are embedded in the original Raw file. In your case I suspect that both your version of ACR and the conversion to DNG might have eliminated these profiles. I did find this on Dpreview, which should possibly help you: https://www.dpreview.com/articles/4...lm-color-profiles-to-camera-raw-and-lightroom.

Hello Paul,

I have the same problem with the DNG file in CS6. Did hou already found a solution for this problem?

Thanks,

Geert

Hi Geert,

Yes, I have resolved the issue. I downloaded a more current version of Adobe DNG Converter - and it works. The release that I now have is 9.7.0.668.

So, my procedure is to first convert the RAF files to DNG and then open them (via Bridge) in CS6 in ACR. The thumbnails in Bridge will show as B&W until you right click on them and select Generate High Quality Thumbnail.

Hope this helps,

Paul

Hi Paul,

Thank you for the quick answer. I use the 9.8...... converter. I can open the DNG file in CS6. In CS6 i can only work with the Adobe standard colour profile. So the problem isn't solved.

When i open it in photoshop elements 14 there is no problem. In elements i can chose all the colour profiles in the drop down menu.

Thanks,

Geert

Hi Geert, Yes, the lack of using any other profile is limiting. I'm pleased that at least I can process the DNG. I tend to do a lot of fine tuning in ACR and then in PS. I shoot and process only a small number of images. Since with a prior release of the converter I could not even process the image in color as the only profile was for ACROS , I'm okay with the current state even though it is not ideal.
