Wow , what the hell is this crap ? :-) Even though I don't need nor am I interested in handing over any more money to Nikon for any more gear I was really surprised and disappointed that they didn't set-up to the plate and release anything new for the upcoming holiday season,Nothing gets the juices flowin around here like a new body I guess we'll have to wait till early 2017, at least. It'll be pretty quiet around here this holiday season.... :-(

I'll agree, but Canon hasn't knocked our socks off at this meeting either (so far anyway).

They did have new releases at Photokina 2016.

There were three action cameras:

I know Nikon has announced and even shipped a few bodies and some glass already this year but, as a Nikon shooter, it was a sad day. :-(

I think I am beginning to understand how D300 users felt all those years! NAAHHHH!!! Not really! ;-) Cheers.

It's kind of a tradition, Iain. With the industry arguably being in a tailspin, with no Nikon 1 "V" camera for years, with the DL cameras delayed and delayed, and doubtless other reasons, users are looking for signs of hope for their choice of brand. Nikon failed to deliver at Photokina.

Even prototypes under glass would have been nice.

I guess the d810 was really a success, no renewal after well over 2 years.

If they wait until March, I would hope iwe see some very cutting edge tech.

Yeah and it's still trading blows with its competition; 5DSR and A7R II. Heck it's still ahead of both those cameras in some areas (the 5DSR especially, sans MP), there's not exactly much incentive for Nikon to get the successor out ASAP.

The 5D IV isn't even able to surpass Nikon's two year old cameras. I doubt Sony are much of a concern between now and the time Nikon do actually release their new cameras.

Lets hope Nikon are holding back some new products for their 100th anniversary next year.

Two of the 4:3 manufactures are closing the "lens gap" on Nikon and Canon and now there is to be a second 50 MP medium format mirrorless body.

Is my estimation. Have they heard of a gopro? I listened to their salesman announce these keymission cameras at the expo. Cringey doesn't cover it. His basis for these was something like this:

'you know when you take a picture and then when you get back and look at it, it doesn't give you that same feeling as when you took it, you don't feel like you where there...that's because your image was not 360!'

Not because of the photographer at all...

Yeah.. disappointed alright.

All they had were some GoPro wannabes'. Not impressed. I'm afraid Nikon is 2 years too late jumping on the hobbyist bandwagon. I guess they aim to get into the law enforcement/defence market instead.

Nikon is celebrating it's centenary in 2017. Here's hoping that there will be launches of flagships in every class of it line-ups.

Strange though; Nikon launched the D500 taking on Canon's D80, albeit it's $1.5k over the top but that's a counter-move nevertheless. Leaving the 5D IV unanswered for is a tad far fetched.

Like I said before; many had hope Nikon's replacements of the D810/D750 will inherit key features of the D5; but who's going to keep buying this $8K rig if key features can be found on lower models that only cost 1/3..1/4 of the D5?

That's why the D500 is shockingly expansive.

Nikon can't afford not to be proactive in this day and age. The prosumer market is no longer a two-horse race. Sony, Fujifilm are providing some bleeding edge technologies that are turning more than a few heads. Just like Nikon's "latest" Keymission series; it is merely playing catch up with the predominant GoPro.

Waiting 6 months to launch a rivalry product can be a death nail to the whole product line.

Currently the A7s' juggernaut are kicking some serious arses; Canon's got the EOS M5 and the 5D IV and for Nikon - GoPro wannabe's?

Are they serious?
