I hadn't read anything directly from the Sigma subsidiary until now:

It's hard to believe how much inaccuracy there is in that article. For example . . .

"'There are only four companies in the world who can do this, Canon, Sony, Fuji, and us.'" - That would lead one to believe that Kodak, Samsung, and Toshiba can't make sensors and that Foveon actually makes their own sensors, when the truth is they subcontract that to a chip manufacturer in South Korea.

"Sigma’s three generations of dp, from dp1, left, through dp2 Merrill, to dp3" - This would lead a novice to believe that the progression of the DP cameras was numbered 1, 2, and 3.

Sorry, but I just couldn't read the rest.

I like this statements:
1. "Merrill took 20 seconds to process an image, now we’ve got it down to 7 seconds."

Thank god i have a special edition. My "Merrill" can make it in 11 seconds.

2. (noise) "Every generation, you improve that performance. With Merrill, we improved it by two stops, and then we went another two stops with dp" (Quattro)

Lets count: If the SD15 has usable ISO 400,
+2 stops, Merrill has usable ISO 1600?
+2 stops, Quattro has usable ISO 6400?

3. (SPP) "We test against every other photo program there is, and for the amount of quality it produces, it is the fastest out there.."

..speechless

It is good to see Foveon talk specifically about the sensor... really interesting point about them possibly having an advantage as users move to wider gamut displays. Sony just released an update to the PS4 the other day that supports wide color displays...

Might be best to ignore the writer and attend to the speaker. The quotes are fairly interesting.

One of the issues could be terminology. Making a sensor, that is having a full-blown fab, vs. designing a sensor is vastly different. Samsung makes the processor chips that go into a lot of Samsung and Apple phones, yet all of those processors start with an ARM designed processor. ARM doesn't make the processor, Samsung does that. So, maybe he is taking some liberties with phrases (after all he does press tours), while still being accurate. ;)
