Photoshop + LR + On1 Photo 10/RAW or Capture One only?

Hello! I am a wedding and portrait photographer and also love photographing nature. I am currently using LR and Photoshop to edit my photos. What I don't like about them is that all my editing in LR is visible only in LR and when I open the file in Camera Raw the changes are not visible and if I lose the catalogue, I lose all the editing I have made. I also don't like that I am not able to scroll the presets in LR and I have to click each individually to see it in full size, not only in the preview window. I see some color editing of pictures in Internet which I cannot do myself and I wonder if people use presets or On1 Photo 10.. I need to be able to make color corrections fast scrolling through presets because I don't have enough time for manual color editing of the weddings and sessions. One more thing - when I make the proper white balance in LR which should be my base point for enhancing of images and I click any preset, that balance is lost. What should I do to save that white balance for a starting point for future color editing?

I wonder if it is easier to work with Capture one or On1 Photo 10 or the upcoming On1 Photo Raw. Is the IQ of ON1 good enough compared to those in PS? Is Capture One good enough to substitute LR, Photoshop and On1 Photo 10/Raw? Are there enough presets for color correction of images for Capture 1 similar to those in ON1 Photo 10/Raw? Is C1 faster than LR?

I just don't want to pay for something which I will not use in future, hope you could help me to save some money. I have previously bought Portrait Pro which I currently don't use because I really don't like the results I get for all of the time wasted in waiting for the program to make the changes.

Make regular and automated backups of your LR Catalog file, and this problem goes away.

If you want ACR to be able to view the edits (Why? This just requires more work on your part. That's what LR is for), you could write the edits to xmp. Problem solved.

To see your LR edits in ACR you have to save the edits to XMP files. Use the Edit>Catalog Settings>Metadata>Automatically write changes into XMP command to start that process for all future images.

Once you turn on XMP files if you select your older images in the Develop Module film strip you can then use the Photos>Save Metadata to File (Ctrl + S) command to get LR to create XMP files for your older images. This command will also update the preview image.

Note that if you do modify an image in ACR it will change the XMP file. The next time you open the image in LR it will tell you the image has been changed and ask you if you want to update it.

Hover your mouse pointer over any edge of the Develop Module image window and you will see a double headed arrow. Left click and you can drag the side/top/bottom panel out to the max allowable size. Doing that to the left side panel maximizes the size of the preview window so you can see the effect of a preset better. Extending your right hand panel makes the sliders longer to give you more control.

Once you set a WB for an image adding a preset doesn't delete or change the WB you set unless that is part of the preset. Presets are added on top of any previous edits you have made.

If you want a bunch of presets then download the free Nik collection. It integrates nicely with LR and Photoshop.
