E-10 various firmware versions found

So, it sounds like if you don't already own the camera, it might be
beneficial to wait a while to buy one to insure that you get the
most recent
version of firmware
Yes, if you can wait. If I had known that a new firmware was coming out this quickly, and if the only difference were the zoom in speed on the playback, I would still have bought my camera first thing. This camera is so much fun and I've been eagerly awaiting its arrival since it was announced three or four months ago.

If you look at the firmware upgrade that you can purchase for the 2500L, you'll notice that its not very major. In fact, after hearing about it, I didn't understand why they would even both to offer it as an upgrade. I truly hope that if Olympus improves the focusing or speed in a major way, that they'll offer an upgrade.

We'll have to see.

Can anyone tell what the newer 119 version of the firmware improves or changes?
I just noticed that my firmware version is different than a couple
of the early adopters of the E-10

An October sample ( probably from a pre-release was 42-0106
My firmware is 42-0119

I just check an early adopter who posted the real jpeg rather than
the photopoint version of an image, and his firmware was 42-0116

I have a Mac Program called iView Multimedia that reads this info.
I'm not sure if Cammedia does or not.

Anybody want to see how many versions are out there?

The playback speed of the 119 version was similar, if not slightly faster (considering the higher resolution, faster) to my C2500L.
Another program (Mac) is GraphicConverter. You should be able to
find it through VersionTracker. I believe any program that can read
the EXIF image data will work (it also shows exposure info).
How do I tell which version I have?
Mac People:
Download Shareware at

or if the response is not too overwelming, e-mail me a sample and I
will e-mail you the answer.

My cammera was purchased from B&H last week and is 116 also.

You can also find it with WordPad, using the Find command to enter "Olympus". I have 42-116 as well. Can't believe there won't be a way to upgrade in future, notwithstanding Olympus' official comments to the contrary.........
