I shoot:
  • 60% landscape
  • 20% agriculture (client work)
  • 20% portrait (portrait and wedding)
-
  • 50% video (currently 1080p but am interested in 4K)
  • 50% stills
-
  • The majority of my video is with the A7S
  • I shoot stills with all my cameras depending on the mood
-

Things that I need and currently use with my SONY system
  • EYE AF
  • Face detect
  • High IS for video (6400 - 20,000 only last case)
  • Video follow focus
  • Video center AF
  • Video log profile
-

Desires:
  • No Aliasing filter
  • Touch screen
  • 4K
  • 1080 @ 60fps (120 would be great)
  • Video log profile
I hate posting things like this, but I literally no nothing about FUJI cameras.

In the absence of any other replies, I'll tentatively suggest that video is improving in the Fuji system, but it's not strong in that area.

Depending on what landscape work you're interested in, it might be worth looking at the Panasonic GH4, or GX8.

Good luck,

Al

Since you haven't had prior experience with Fuji then my advice is to rent one...Or at least pop into any camera shop for X-T2 demo...

Looking at your requirements, I would say you are unlikely to meet all those requirements with a single camera, so I suggest you get an A7Rii to accompany your A7S and you will cover all the bases.

Thanks - May I ask why you suggest the Panasonic?

I only hesitate because of its crop factor. I can live with APSC, but MFT?
I also feel the same way about MFT, but that's because I really love the great depth of field control that full frame provides. However, for a landscape shooter, that might not be so much of a priority.

The GH4 has *amazing* video functionality, and has had fantastic reviews across the board - there's also a great range of Leica lenses for it. You should have a look at the Flickr galleries for GH4 and GX8, and any of the Leica lenses that you might consider.

One of the things that opened my eyes to the potential of MFT, and the Panasonic bodies in particular, was Tara Tanaka's digiscoping gallery - it's worth a look. Not completely relevant to your interests, but demonstrates well the quality that MFT can achieve - see below:

Eye detect autofocus is not good on Fuji cameras, not even on the newer models. The T2 does have a joystick to move your AF box over the eyes.

Maybe wait for Photokina to see what Olympus and Panasonic announce.

Frankly, I'm not sure why you would move from your Sony gear at all.

Right now I'm just exploring but it sounds like Sony is my system for a while. The reason for my exploring is the cist of Sony lenses.

Thanks

Next week Pansonic should announce their GH5 at Photokina which will be their flagship hybrid camera for video and stills with a new sensor and new processor. Since you want 50% video and stills i think that me worth a look. I believe the catch will be that is will not ship for several months.

The Olympus E-M1 ii should be announced as well, and it is likely to have 4k video and competitive video features.

The other BIG reason I'm considering a move is SONY's horrible service for their cameras.

How is FUJI's service for camera issues (repairs and such)?
Fuji service is generally considerd excellent!!!

Although in almost four year I never needed repair or replacement 😃
