I know you wanted a mic jack. What kind of video? How will you be focusing? So I'm in between a few cameras, the samsung nx30, Canon rebel t5i video creator kit or Canon Eos m3 video creator kit. I worry about the Canon m3 and the nx30 because of lenses selection and worry about the m3 and t5i because of only 30fps. So I ask, which one for great video and good photography?
Did you have focus peaking? Dont think t5i has itI'm fine with manual focus,
auto would be nice but i have had practice with manual and i am comfortable with it.
Stabilized lenses and sensor stabilization can be helpfulJust videos of walking around, holding it in my hand most of the time, no tripod or anything.
If that is all you want then the m3 has itHome videos if you will. I liked the m3 for its size but the lens selection scares me. Then again lenses scare me in general. I plan just to use a kit lens for awhile until I do a long zoom.
I don't know which 1" cameras have a mic jack. Yeah T5i would be really low on my listA view finder option affected my choice.
Almost no sensor stabilization works with video.Stabilized lenses and sensor stabilization can be helpful
I looked over the T5i specs. It's surprisingly not bad. It's not competitive with a GH2, mind you, but definitely not bad. Dual pixel AF. 64 manual audio levels. Full manual controls. Has all the basics. A mode doesn't work in video, which I'd mind quite a bit.I don't know which 1" cameras have a mic jack. Yeah T5i would be really low on my list
What.......maybe I should have said IBIS. Yes sony a7 em10s, gx, IBIS does work in video with a few hiccupsAlmost no sensor stabilization works with video.Stabilized lenses and sensor stabilization can be helpful
Yes. The op is using a mic which will help with thisLens stabilization usually does work, but often messes with the audio on lenses not designed to be quiet.
On paper.....I looked over the T5i specs. It's surprisingly not bad.I don't know which 1" cameras have a mic jack. Yeah T5i would be really low on my list
Video is not a strong subject for me. The dual pixel on the t5i seems to have issues. No focus peaking for MF. It is an interesting tool but for run and gun I see some serious limitationsIt's not competitive with a GH2, mind you, but definitely not bad. Dual pixel AF. 64 manual audio levels. Full manual controls. Has all the basics. A mode doesn't work in video, which I'd mind quite a bit.
Not a good solution. The adapter is quite expensive and doesn't work with any sub <$600 cameras. The only Sony solution in this price range would be a used NEX-7.Sony does have mic input dongles for selected models that have accessory contacts in the hot shoe. There is a compatibility chart at:
www.sony.net/Products/diacc/compatibilities/microphone/
The a5100 isn't listed, so likely doesn't support that feature.
Between the two? With a heavy emphasis on video? YesSo your saying the m3?
Sold it. Need to update my gearAlso I see you have a Olympus m10.
I actually did like it in a way. I would recommend it to people in a heartbeat and often do. It can be found underived $300 used and refurb these days. It just wasn't for me. I would go into detail but it is irrelevant. I do not remember a mic jack. How do you like that camera?
my guess is m3 and g7 would be close enough. The gh2 is quite a bit older. I cannot give much of a comparison because the gh2 is completely foreign to me and I have little experience with the other 2. SorryWhat can be said for the gh2's photo quality compared to the Canon Eos m3 or the Lumix g7?
Overall the g7 probably has the most complete package but if you don't get any traction try the appropriate forum for the M. You may get better answers thereAll these cameras have the features I want![]()
