I'd like to get a poll on those users that have considered a desire to having the following wireless capability with their Nikon D500. I decided to make this post after sending Nikon a message via their customer support portal. So, as an avid believer in Wireless transfer of images from camera to PC, the following items are presented under this poll. Note, this poll is mainly for D500 users, but others are welcome to chime in if some desired.

Potential Selections:

#1) Prefer WT-7A as currently Designed

#2) Would prefer an integrated battery grip with WT-7A wireless capabilities and wireless connectivity to the camera's body via a bottom port versus connecting to the side USB port

#3) Same connectivity of the WT-6A as the D4/D4s/D5 designs - even if it required a battery grip with an EN-EL18a battery.

#4) Status quo - I don't give a crap about transferring images to a PC wirelessly.

For the record, I prefer #2 and #3 would be a close second option.

Note: I did not include an option for a "robust" in-body Wireless transmitter, as I assume the reason why is because Wireless transmitters build up heat. In fact, all "transmitters" present heat build-up,...even my EyE-Fi card gets hot when using it. Therefore, a DSLR body with a robust in-body wireless transmitter will most likely never happen using current and near future wireless technology!

Cheers...

I vote for the option you didn't put in, which is proper in body Wi-Fi without needing to use Snapcrap and Bluetooth to connect to it !!

I agree. Built in wifi.

Should have included that in the poll...

The D500's current WiFi capability is crippled by Nikon on purpose. This can be fixed with a Firmware update; however, even if Nikon loosens the D500 restrictions, the built-in WiFi module will not be as robust as per se', a WT-6a, or WT-7a! Case in point, I currently use a WT-4a with a D700,...and images pop into my PC quite fast,....and way faster than the capability of my EyE-Fi card Inn head to head comparison. So, even though built-in WiFi is available, it gets slaughtered when pit up against a dedicated Wireless Transmitter.

Also, I suppose that the WT-6a and WT-7a are faster at transferring images to a PC than the WT-4a,...given their updated wireless protocol,....802.11ac vs 802.11g for the WT-4a
