I picked up this lens a few days ago and i am astonished. I haven't left 1.4 yet. I have had a rare weekend off so I spent much of it just testing and learning it's nuances. These aren't anything to write home about and yes there is a cat shot, but I wasn't trying to make magic with it... yet. :-) My hope is just to shed some more light on the lens for some of you. Cheers.

D810, 105 1.4 all at 1.4. 12 bit RAW, imported to LR, batch edit to "Camera Standard". No sharpening applied, exported as 4mp for web purposes. (They show better on my computer than they do on the web).

wow. looks great. wish I had a use for this lens...maybe I can find one ;)

Very nice indeed! Thanks for posting.

Nikon has really stepped up their game lately.

Proof: I didn't even think I needed a 105mm f1.4.....and now I want one. :)

Thank you for the shots. They are perfect examples of what this soon to be a legend lens can do.

These look really nice to me; I have been looking for a AF sub telephoto to use my with 60mm G, really want a 135mm, just something smaller/more portable than my 70-200mm. I was almost ready to buy a 105mm VR (I owned one back in the D700 days), but had doubts about its distance performance so the new 105mm might fit the bill.

This are some very nice sample pictures, I really like the Pinarello.

i looking at the 85 f/1.4 at this moment but this lens should looks good to me too. I watch a bad review of this lens in YouTube by The Angry Photographer but I start thinking that he got it all wrong.

Thank you on you posting this samples.

The Angry Photographer is usually wrong and sometimes correct, but only by mistake.

He is a devout proponent of the "more lens elements is always bad" crackpot theory and bases his reviews on that ideology, not facts.

He reviewed without even ever having touched the damn lens. What kind of review is that. The images coming out now from people who actually have one to shoot look amazing and show that the Angry Moron is a pure idiot. He is dumber than box of rocks.

After enduring 35 seconds of the angry video I lost interest ....time order the lens from Amazon.

Here is one from an editorial shoot I did this morning. Back lit/rim light buy the sun. Main light is a Profoto B1 with beauty dish. Downsized to 4mp for web. Shot at f/2.2 ISO 100 on the D810

Seems to me he is more a collector than a photographer, so is only fair to to start calling him "The angry Collector"

Cool. Nice Background separation and pleasant bokeh even @ f2,2.

+1

Funny part was he use to bash the heck out of the 135 DC, now he's praising the 105 DC, which is basically the same lens at a slightly different focal length. He said the new lens has no micro contrast, yet on the comparisons iv'e seen the micro contrast looks about the same, but the bokeh and sharpness look WAY better on the 105 1.4E than the DC. I think he lost me as a fan over this one, clearly shows he has no idea what he's talking about.

He made that video bashing the new 105 f1.4 based solely on the very first jpg images posted online by Nikon. LOL the man is an idiot. Also he used to bash mirrorless until eventually he actually tried one and now he is all in love with the Fuji cameras. All of a sudden he is desperately making videos trying to explain that one away. LOL
