What's the situation with Capture One and X-Pro2 (and X-T2 soon)?

I am thinking about getting an X-T2 and I see a lot of threads about Capture One not supporting the X-Pro2 which has the same sensor as the X-T2.

Does it not support the X-Pro2 at all or are only certain features missing? Is there a statement from Capture One about future support?

I am OK with Capture One so far but if they don't support the X-T2 I may have to go through another round of RAW developer evaluations which I really don't want to spend time on.

For file support it says "RAF (Preliminary- see notes)" but where are the notes?

The only issue with C1 and XP2 is that is does not support compressed RAFs.

In the right-hand column, the one headed "Notes".

It's time P1 got their finger out.

That column doesn't mention anything about compressed RAFs. It's exactly the same text as for the X-T1 so you could assume that the support is the same.

I could live with that although I don't understand why they are not supporting it. From a software development point of view this should be easy.

You asked a question; I answered it, accurately and completely, so what are you complaining about? You said nothing about compressed RAFs in your question or your original post.

Quite inaccurate. It also does not support any form of lens corrections, which is a much bigger deal...

The relative importance of compressed RAF and lens corrections is a matter of personal workflow. The lack of lens corrections does not bother me in the least.

Do like others and complain about it not being supported via email and on their forums and they will be more motivated to do so. Squeeky wheel.

I really hope they take care of the compressed raw issue soon (that and offer another 50% off sale). I don't really like Lightroom, but am using it until this gets taken care of (or DXO by some miracle starts supporting Fuji).

Generally it takes awhile after a new camera's release to support RAW files. In the interim use Fuji's software to convert to Tiff then import into C1.

Patience, grasshopper.

Not having compressed raw is not a big deal. I've been using C1 with my Pro 2 and it works fine. I can wait on compressed raw.

I've given up on Phase One.

To their credit, they have explained in detail that The Fuji files are REALLY different for them, and it's just not worth their while to create custom software for us. I'm not happy, but I can understand that.

But what never comes out in detail is just how much they don't support even for supported cameras. The current Fuji restrictions, which are the same for all cameras and will almost certainly be the same for the X-T2 are:

* Lens correction, which is quite important. Read reviews of lenses that offer uncorrected views and you'll see how much it's needed.

* Auto masking, which I use a lot in LR. It's apparently more accurate in C1 than in LR, but you can't use it for Fuji files.

* Repair layers, i.e. cloning and healing. Just not available for Fuji files.

* Export to DNG files. Self-explanatory, may affect some people, irrelevant to me.

I can't imagine switching to software that doesn't support lens corrections, auto masking, cloning, and healing. I use these tools the whole time in LR. If you do as well, stop thinking about C1.

Not sure what you're talking about... I was using cloning and healing just fine this weekend on X-T1 and Xpro2 files.
