We each have different styles and preferences. If you're shooting people, sure, AF might be better (mind you, if you're good at zone focusing...). If you're shooting objects, landscapes, scenery etc. MF can be better.
Personally I think the Loxia 35 is an ideal walk-around lens. The fact that it's a prime forces you to think about composition, and the fact that it's MF forces you to put some more thought into DOF and where you want the plane of focus. This can lead to some missed shots, but you're likely to end up with a higher ratio of keepers, and it can also make for a more fun and engaging shooting experience.
So it's kind of like driving manual versus automatic. You don't want to be driving a stick in traffic, but it can be fun in the right circumstances. Different tools for different purposes.
