Nope, maybe not in the next 10 years. If it is good, its price won't go down. It will only go down if a NX2 is released by Samsung or NX600, which will not be happening anytime soon. I'd expect prices of the NX1 to stay constant and if not raise in price once it is more rare in the future. Most of the people are discussing about loose quality of samsung? is it true that samsung ia going down..??
Of course it is true. Most of the people are discussing about loose quality of samsung? is it true that samsung ia going down..??
Depends on your needs really. If you are happy with just a few lenses then you can pick up a 2nd hand Samsung body and lenses for a good price. Not NX1 or NX500, but other Samsung bodies can be found cheap. An NX300 setup is still viable imo and providing you don't invest too heavily in lenses then you will have a system that will give you great pics for a few years at least.Of course it is true. Most of the people are discussing about loose quality of samsung? is it true that samsung ia going down..??
Regrettably it is Samsung's Silence that brought down the 'value' of the NX system to zero in my opinion.
The fundamental, bottom line of a camera system is Glass, the system's available lenses.
Bodies come and go but the glass remains.
When a system has no new bodies being introduced eventually the the glass becomes useless.
This is a fact, not just my opinion.
So, anyone spending their hard earned money on a camera system that has no new bodies coming to market is foolishly throwing their money away
I use my NX1 daily but will not buy any additional bodies or glass of the NX system.
Spend your money on a live system.
It really depends on the longevity of the camera. If people continue to use their samsung because nothing out there forced them to move system then lens prices will continue to stay high as the supply will not increase but the demand will. You could easily then sell all your nx gear used and get most of your money back. How is that throwing money away? If you get enjoyment from an electronic for couple years I think it has been worth its value. Video cards for example are one of those things that never retain their value and I know when I buy them every year they will continue to drop in price until it hits a plateau. Cameras on the other hand don't develop nearly as fast as video cards. I can understand if you buy new lenses for very expensive prices it makes no sense knowing you will have to eventually sell them for cheaper, but I think there are some deals on used lenses that will unlikely drop significantly further. Some things have already dropped to half price.Of course it is true. Most of the people are discussing about loose quality of samsung? is it true that samsung ia going down..??

I understand that the cameras/lenses are still very good just to give away for cheap. If you add to this fact that most of us got NX bodies and/or lenses for relatively cheap(in one way or another), then the system was always, and still is a bargain. It really depends on the longevity of the camera. For someone who isn't a professional photographer or doing more video, I don't see how buying a couple of used or new lenses for cheap is throwing money away because the system is dead. You can still use the camera and get great video and picture until someone makes the camera that you really wanted. I could have bought a gh4 and panasonic lenses but if sony comes out with something that I always wanted by finally adding touch screen, flip out screen, larger battery, etc then I would have had to sell all my panasonic lenses when moving to sony and vice versa. Especially with video since autofocus doesn't work with adapters.
The only difference is the uncertainty of lens prices with samsung vs other brands. You know that selling for example panasonic lens used in the future will probably fetch close to the same price used now but that is unknown with the samsung lenses. I think that is what we are trying to predict here in terms of retaining value. If you buy a S lens for half off used will it continue to drop in price or will people flood the market with used lenses so that the prices all drop significantly.

If you compare the cameras and systems out there when the NX1 was out, and the money you would have to spent since then to achieve the same quality and features (now), then you realize you had a really good bargain. And a good bargain, is just that, and stays that.
I couldn't find a similar camera to Panasonic (I had used the GH4 for some projects) or Fuji, and Canonikon have not an option for me even now. The first two are coming really close to what I need, but Fuji is very far from what I want from video, and the Pana cameras are reaching this level, probably when the new GH5 is out, but we will see. Sony is left out because, as a video pro, there is no ASP-C camera that suits my needs. AS7ii theoritically is (a full frame one) but for the money(of the whole package), I do my job with C series cameras, JVC LS300 or even BlackMagic ones, and have more versality and video ergonomics.
If you are a pro, the S lenses are very cheap for what they offer (comparing to other systems), plus the 85; the rest of the lenses where so cheap, that you buy and forget, or sell everything and buy a good 55'' TV, that will be almost obsolete in a few years, and that is the way it is recently.
For my photo hobby, and some low budget video pro work, the NX1/NX500 with several NX lenses and adapters, are just perfect.
I am not really worrying for the future that much. I want cameras that offer me the most of what I need,, and for the budget, I am extremelly happy so far. I think the last NXes were the most exciting cameras I ever had.
BONUS: hack/moding scene that is just scratching its (software and hardware) potential.
I think panasonic has all the pieces minus autofocus to surpass nx1. I just don’t know if they will implement them all. My money is still on panasonic. The new ibis is impressive if they do include it on gh5. Maybe I will wait for gh6 when they get autfocus correct. Then sell nx1I understand that the cameras/lenses are still very good just to give away for cheap. I disagree on two things, first of all it seems that there are more buyers than sellers, people that want to sell, trying to sell very high, even people that bought NX1 for less than 800-1000$ and NX500 for less than 500$(kit), so don't be fooled by people selling a NX1 with a few adapters and a few batteries for 1000$, they probably have spent 1000$ for everything.Depending on the value of the dollar or euro, prices fluctuates. right now, seems most camera bodies and lenses are at premium prices. The prices will go in both ways and it also depends on the season. I notice prices drop during holidays as others buy new bodies as gifts hence fewer buyers. As far as Samsung products, they will go down, eventually as newer cameras gets bought and other people sell bodies to fund systems.

More people seem to be selling NX systems then buyers, from what I see but prices remain high, so they buy other systems and depending on how bad the seller wants to sell, they will lower the price. As any dead system, prices will be higher, then drop over time as people switch systems. There will be those who stay on, and will buy if the price is right, but here the Samsung cameras and lenses has a inherit problem, few lenses. I mean if a person already has a particular lens, why does he need another? So buyer will be even more scarce. Example, I have the kit lens, 30mm, 45 mm...there are only a few more I need, a 60 and 85. I am not going to buy a 's' lens, for that price I can buy a better lens for my Sony, so prices will eventually drop.
Why? If you use your system until it essentially has no value (ie as a fixed lens system), then it does not matter if Samsung are in the market or not. The camera is the camera, and when you need to replace it, just replace it.I fully understand your position but I stand by my opinion that it is foolish to buy gear of a dead system.I understand that the cameras/lenses are still very good just to give away for cheap. many NX systems for sale at high prices...as any market...if prices lower, buyers will come out...most are bought as seconds bodies from what i seen. The sony DT 16-50 2.8 A mount...is same as the 16-50 'S' and a the 50-150 from Tamron for Sony, both Crop lenses fill the 'S' series...and many, many more options with the 'G' lenses of Sony/Minolta even with a adapter..cheaper and just as good..I disagree on two things, first of all it seems that there are more buyers than sellers, people that want to sell, trying to sell very high, even people that bought NX1 for less than 800-1000$ and NX500 for less than 500$(kit), so don't be fooled by people selling a NX1 with a few adapters and a few batteries for 1000$, they probably have spent 1000$ for everything.Depending on the value of the dollar or euro, prices fluctuates. right now, seems most camera bodies and lenses are at premium prices. Also, in various forums, there are certain people that are searching for NX gear that it si very expensive, or not available at all.
Also, which Sony APS-C lens is similar to the S lenses, in weight/size/performance/prize? The full frame equivalent of the S lenses are easy double the price AND more (and the 70-200 is not out yet).
With "ifs" you are not making certainties, the fact is that NX1 cameras are STILL sold to values near their retail price, even 8-10 months of the adandoning of the system, that is incredible, and I was reffering in existing systems and native full auto lenses, m4/3, Sony APS-C, Fuji X that I researched prior to my purchases since the NX300. Sony has only new full frame lenses of that quality with double the price, or more (and no lens stabilization for some). m4/3 same price, or more (for a substantially smaller sensor/less glass) and Fuji, with relatively expensive lenses throughout the system (ofcourse that varies).many NX systems for sale at high prices...as any market...if prices lower, buyers will come out...most are bought as seconds bodies from what i seen. If you got your equipment at sale prices you got a pretty good deal, since the NX1 system is going to be capable for many years to come.
I got my 16-50mm lens kit and nx1 with everything that comes with it in box barely used including lightroom two batteries charger vertical grip hoods and caps for under $1500 thru craigslist. So deals can be had still and I have been tracking ebay and see some good deals here and there. People know it is abandoned so it isn’t in the radar for most people. There are peole that got NX1+S lenses+accessories for less than 2000$ (especially the Turkish/Australian/Swiss firesales), and similar cases all over the world. If you add to this fact that most of us got NX bodies and/or lenses for relatively cheap(in one way or another), then the system was always, and still is a bargain. It really depends on the longevity of the camera.
Not to flame, but I think it is even more foolish to buy used equipment of a dead system. This is my opinion and I stand by it.

I believe that actually people bought low back in November-February and are selling reltively high right now. I was considering doing the same back then, but I had no access to firesale equipmemt, so I had to buy relatively normal prices, and still I found some very good deals in the end. The only thing I paid relatively high, was 600€ for a NX500 kit (with original battery and charger for extra though, but I could have had that for 500€), which is not that baf, considering how capable this little camera still is, and how good compliments the bigger, larger and more pro orientated NX1.
