So, I have an X-pro2, love it, and have no desire to own a XT-2, or anything else for that matter.
One thing I do find though, is that I am doing a little more video... i'd say I'm still around 70/30 photo and video, but 30% of a lot is still, well, a lot.
With the upcoming update, I know everyone is hot for 4k, but I really don't care about it. I don't need the res, and frankly, my 2011 Macbook Air just wouldn't survive if I tried to edit 4k on it.
I will be a little miffed though, if Fuji doesn't think about passing along some of the other features of the X-T2 that there is clearly no technical impediment to... here's my wish list:
1. F-log recording: This would be an awesome addition, and could be done in camera with 1080p with no problem. I would then be free to either shoot with a film simulation, or F-log and grade in Davinci later.
2. Simulation adjustments in video: My understanding is that in the new X-T2, tone adjustments to simulations actually effect video. Not so in every other Fuji body. This would be huge, and would improve the control I have over my final output.
3. Fuji keeps talking about how "the x-pro2 and x-t2 have different target markets..." This may be true, but if that's true, why should my X-pro2 not get the customizable AF just like the X-T2? I would suggest different presets- to reflect it's different use:
a- "Portrait"-to detect subtle movements, and maintain focus on eye
b- "Children"- to maintain focus on erratically moving subjects
c- "Candid/Street"- To capture the action as it enters the frame at smaller apertures
What do you guys think?
I love fuji, and the X-pro2, but would be a little bummed if a camera released for the same price only a few months later, retains exclusivity on so many features that could be useful, just to clear up their questionable market positioning.
