Would you buy the new 24-105mm f/4 L kit lens?

I didn't like the first one and sold it imemdiately, so I guess I'll skip the next one as well.

The rumored 70-300 IS USM mkII is something that interests me much more!

Especially if you already have the original 24-105mm f/4 L? Do you think its worth upgrading?
it's a question no one can answer, how is the optic quality of this none-existing lens when compare to the current one?

If that's like the 24-70 F2.8 II with one stop slower, I will buy one. but if that's re-badge version of the current 24-105 with some IS upgrade and few OZ lighter, no thanks, I sold my 24-105L as soon as I got my first FF 1DS2 10 years ago and haven't missed it for a second.

For a lens that is still just a rumor, I cannot make any decision until it is real, and evaluated by good reviewers.

Assuming it has the latest 4-stop IS and the image quality is at least as good as the other two F4 IS lens, 16-35 & 24-70, I may buy it. If the image quality is as good as the 24-70 f2.8 II, then I will buy one.

Probably assuming its really improved over the current one. I need another normal zoom as I am going to keep my 5DII

Ok. Yes. I didn't make the same assumption. Then I don't have no suggestions because that new lens is not in the market yet. My old faithful EF 24-105 f/4 L is alive and well. I have no idea how much better the new lens will be nor if I will feel justified in getting rid of the old faithful. But out there are a lot of rumors about the specifications of the next EOS 5D Mark IV. So the question to me will be the upgrade to the new camera. That's what I'm thinking about plus the EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L II USM for new wider perspectives. :-)

I would certainly be interested in a 24-105 f/4 L IS Mark II.

If the wide angle distortion is more like the 24-70 f/4 L IS and improved color and contrast, absolutely.

Having the 24-105 f/ 4 L IS for almost eight years now, I just recently added the 24-70 f/4 L IS last Christmas. While I like the added benefits above, the 24-70 range for me leaves me a bit short.

You mean the 16-35mm f/2.8 L III (possibly with IS) right? :p

Right. The latest EF16-35mm f/2.8L III should be announced very soon, maybe in September according to Canon Rumors
