During a recent interview with a Fuji product manager, it was gleaned that Fuji will no longer be focusing on any enthusiast models other than the tough series.

Over on Fuji rumors, they stated...

It really sounds like the Manager declared the death of the X10/20/30 line. Apparently, to what belongs sensors smaller than APS-C, only the tough waterproof and shock resistant camera line of the Fujifilm XP90 will survive. Not a big surprise. Our trusted Japanese source already told us, that there is no X40 on the horizon. Moreover, the X30 and XQ2 are already officially discountinued… and not because a successor is coming anytime soon.

It is surprising to me that they are continuing the waterproof lineup, because those cameras constantly rank in the lower tier when compared with Olympus, Nikon, and Panasonic WP models.

Probably the profit margins are good because Olympus (especially) and Nikon overcharge for their WP models.

So, nothing more than they said six months ago.

...released some new models of anything. But other than the tough/waterproof series, it's obvious that they've all but written off their enthusiast line of cameras (sans Samsung perhaps). This is a cryin' shame really. :-x

I'd recommend that folks sitting on the fence, or those who already have one or more of the X series of Fuji enthusiast models, scarf up what they can. Great deals to be had out there.

For example, look at this deal for the X10 (which, as you know is a wonderful camera):

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fujifilm-X1...173590?hash=item464bf6c296:g:gGIAAOSw-RRXBnQR

So get 'em while they're still out there - whether it be the X10, XF1, X20, X30, X-S1 or even the XQ2. The fact is that their performance levels haven't dropped at all. Ebay has tons of them - with the exception of the X-S1. But you can find what you need.

So if the X30 and XQ2 were indeed Fuji's last hurrah, I strongly suggest that it's best to hunt for what you can on either eBay or Amazon now so you'll have these cameras - which, IMO - will never grow old, regardless of pixel count in the future.

Fuji stated way back in an interview they were not following up with 2/3 xtrans and not even considering 1" sensor cameras . no more hs series or xs and concentrating on the x series apsc kit . We`ve all been talking about it on here for months and a lot are gutted by Fuji decision . One reason I went out and bought another x30 while I could. Cheers Paul UK

I hear you!

X30 is a great camera. There will be no more cameras like it. I'm keeping mine.
