Sorry if this isn't the right place to ask this but this is pretty much the only forum I follow on DP.

Are there some online alternatives that have an excellent selection of frames, matting, etc for displaying photos.

I go to the local Michael's store but I imaging there is a much bigger selection if you know where to look.

Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Nick

I know that Jorgensen Wedding Albums and various formats that you can use/customize. Sorry i couldn't really help you. I am looking for something similar as well.

Not sure where you live, but if you have a college or university in your community, you almost certainly have an art supply store (other than Michaels). We have a about a dozen of them, all catering to the more serious artists and centering their inventory on fine art supplies, including mats and framing.

I've always found Michaels to be over-priced and spread a little thin, trying to cover too many "craft" bases. Art stores (especially those around the university and art college) are priced to better serve the starving student, or the equipment-poor photographer (like me).
Worth a try, in any event

Light Impressions is great, but they are a bit pricey.

I found a place last year, for a job, that had a lot of really nice mattes. It was out in Santa Rosa, CA if I remember correctly. As it turned out we got the mattes cut locally practically for free, but I just started shooting this fund raiser again for this year and I don't want to burden the frame shop again. I'll let you know what I find, I'm needing about 85 mattes... so, I'm hoping to find a good deal. More to come, hopefully.

If you can get ahold of a copy of PPA magazine, paper or electronic, it is loaded with all sorts of advertisers catering to professional wedding photographers including what you are looking for.

But don'y discount the huge selection at Michaels. I have my printing done at BayPhoto, one of the large commercial printers, and I have also looked at Whitewall who is the largest worldwide and their framing and matting options are less extensive that what Michaels carries.

http://www.framedestination.com/

Great service, great product, fast shipping, probably not the cheapest but better then my local frame shop. Plus they do cater to photographers.
I have no financial interest in the co.
I use Frame Destinaion exclusively. Their prices are much more reasonable than local frame shops. They are the best IMO.
