Anyone know how long it takes to receive the so called free 64GB CFast card from Canon ? I applied online for it over 3 weeks ago now and have heard nothing, Have an airshow next week and dont want to spend £250 on a CFast card when I have already paid for one with the camera. 1DX MkII is a great camera but less than impressed with the purchase experience with missing box contents and this ridiculous waiting time.

If they have a room full of ones with the image corruption problem they might be waiting for replacements...

 
I applied for the card on 28th May, then immediately went on two weeks holiday. When I got back there was no sign of it, so I eventually went online to check the status. There was a message that read something like "incorrect address supplied, claim timed out". (That of course was probably my fault.)

Anyway, I re-supplied my address and had an email back on 28th June saying "We are pleased to confirm that your application has been successfully validated and we will now endeavour to send your gift within the following 28 days."

So the whole process looks like it will have taken two months.

If timescales are critical, I'd be inclined to buy a card - it will always be useful to have a back-up. And issues with faulty cards will only add to the delay.

PS I have to say that the whole idea of having to claim a 'gift' is bizarre. Much more professional just to include the card in the box as they do in some geographies. Less work, less agro, less wasted time. Canon and consumers would both benefit.

mine came in almost exactly 3 weeks from applying
 
At last and out of the blue my CFast card turned up this morning. Checked the number and its one of the serial numbers quoted by SanDisk as 'affected' and may cause corruption. So there is no recall or swap out by Sandisk.

The CFast card was provided as a promotional item (Free), so there will be on recall or swap, because it was not purchased.

I'm sure Sandisk will sort you out. Quite possibly they are sent out by a third party on Canon's behalf and they just hadn't got the message to stop sending them in time.
 
About 4 weeks, had the address query too, mine arrived today sent from Europe.
 
Applied for mine just over a couple of weeks ago but got an e-mail a few days ago saying they couldn't process the claim due to an invalid serial number. I'd missed out the leading zero from the number so rather than them look at the uploaded image of the receipt and see what I'd done, the just bounced the claim. I wonder if they are told to reject claims based on the slightest omission even if they know what the customer did wrong.
 
Dunno, but three rejections amongst the folks who hang out here seems a pretty high percentage. It doesn't do them any services for customer care, especially when they could have just put the card in the box and been done with it.

Makes you wonder if they are using this opportunity to offload cards that they knew were faulty all along.

Not sure about Sandisk just "off loading" iffy cards. Have you read anything about users of other cameras having issues with their CFast cards or just 1DX2 owners? If it's only 1DX2 owners then it isn't an issue "just" with the card.
 
'Offloading' was said rather tongue-in-cheek.

I've only heard of an issue with the 1DXII but then I don't know what other cameras use CFast yet.

I applied for two, one of which arrived a few day ago. Took it almost three weeks to get from Holland (at least I think it was from Holland, not sure as most of the text is in a foreign language).

Anyway have tried out the card and o far have not had any problems even though it's serial number is on Canon's list.
 
My original card, that came with the camera worked once , sent it back, received a new one in approx 3 weeks. Seems to be working, however I am afraid to use it on anything important. Has anyone tried the Lexar CFast cards?

I have tried my Lexar 64 CFast card a couple of times and so far so good.
