Panasonic FZ2?!!!!

OK, you have talked me into it. I will see about getting the FZ1 this weekend. That way, I will know before I go on vacation if the FZ1 will do what I wnat.

Thanks,
Steven
I'd get an fz-n (for model "now"), then decide later if you want
to sell it for an upgrade. The upgrade, if there is one, will have
to be not only released but evaluated for months before you are
ready to make up your mind. Lots of things can go wrong along the
way, meanwhile the fz1 has already been shown to get the shots you
are likely to want.

I look back at my digital photos, and the real winners were shot
with 1mp and less! The very ultimate best of my shots were done
with a Sony Mavica at 640 x 480 res (just over half a megapixel).

Had I waited even for a 1 mp Mavica, I never would have got that
shot!! What's that worth? Do you think you will always have ideal
subjects to shoot and just have to wait for the right camera? That
may be true but it's more likely that your own interest in the
subject and the opportunity will be fleeting. Act now and get the
shot while the subject is available, is my advice, and to all
photographers.

Some of the best photos I've ever seen were done with very low mp
cameras. Some of the most boring and labored, "had to have a
photo, so I shot this thing", with high MP cameras. Never let the
camera get in the way of the photo.

Your call...

There will be a replacement for the FZ1 very soon.

Before "Panasonic" Bob jumps on me it must be remembered that he is in the USA. Panasonic USA have historically been anything up to 6 months behind the rest of the world in releasing digicams. On top of that he (Bob) is a true comapny person who only speaks the company line so anything he says must be read with that in mind.

This camera will be released but that does not mean it will be released in the USA at the same time as elsewhere.

And your source? If true, I need to know, as I'm about to return my FZ1 for a replacement.

Guys,

Understand that my respones are governed by company policy. I have this info that may put your mind at ease and this is (honestly) as accurate I was told.

The FZ2 is an FZ1 with aperature and shutter priority added - nothing more.

Since these features appear to be important to the Japanese market, their current production commitments were satisfied and it allowed them to create the FZ2 for the Japanese market

At this time there is no immediate plans to offer it in the U.S., though down the road it may be offered.

While the Japanese Panasonic web site may have removed it, http://www.panasonic.com has no plans to remove the FZ1 nor announce the FZ2.

I understand that you believe I'm holding back, but this is all that I am aware of.. not in any way censored by my inability to say more.
OK?
