This is a Whistling Kite that was heading my way a few weeks ago while walking into one of my birding spots. I shot it coming in head on and got over 20 flight shots in several sequences tac sharp and about 40 shots from the moment it's talons hit the perch till the sun went down. From those flight shots there was not one shot that missed focus but I'm only including every 2nd or 3rd shot to keep this thread reasonable.

Well iv'e gotta say CA-F did very well here :-)

Enjoy!

Did you sharpen the images?

As always - great skill, and great equipment combination. Well done.

Really impressed with the AF on the EM1 - I suspect it is a lot better than my G7 with those PDAF points... though i haven't seen any head to heads.

Great shots!! Looks like you've got your technique down very well. If I may ask what your other setting were, particularly auto focus points. I don't get out to bird much so I haven't gotten to be nearly as proficient as you. I still find it difficult to get a lock on flying birds, especially for that firt shot.

Thanks!

Great shots and thanks for sharing. I haven't really tested BIFs with this combo yet.

As ususal, very well done.

Excellent series of captures vass. Some great individual frames in amongst the sequence.

You sure know how to use C-AF with the E-M1, I am still struggling with it.

You also did well to get the kite down so low, i mainly see them soaring high or up high in a tall dead tree.

Cheers

Dennis

Great captures Vass! I have some fond memories watching these on the Murray river in Echuca. I really should get back there one day and see if they're still there.

Brilliant work as always and top shots Vas. Would love to see one. That's some sequence there and the lighting is just right IMO. Showing some fine details, wish I was there mate ;-)

All the best Vas, just love these.

Danny.

Did you sharpen the images?
Probably blurred them more than sharpened. Slight noise reduction.

Vass, great sequence as always. Did you use Photoshop for blurring?

Cheers, Mark

Always learning
Neat image because I'm too lazy to touch the RAW files yet, I spend minimal time processing because I have a 5 year old that takes over my pc

Thanks, iv'e been seeing too many lately, there was a period I didn't see one for a few months and now they are all over the place around Sydney's outskirts.
