*** Weekly Wildlife Thread 4th June to 10th June 2016 ***

Hi John, its a beautiful image of a Black Winged Stilt. We have them here in Australia as well.

Two lovely shots, especially the Bluejay. The smaller sensors in the cameras that a lot of us on this forum use, are all prone to suffering a bit in low light.

Superb shot John, I quite like the vignette as well.

Great detail and light in those two images of the Woodlark.

Lovely images lpj1928. The foxes look great posing like that. I nearly missed your post as it appeared under another banner for the "Juvenile Great Horned Owl, Cedar Waxwing & Clark's Nutcracker".

In order to make sure your posts are seen please select the "reply to thread" option at the top left of this forum and then change the title to what you want to call it, then add your images and text.

Thanks. I tried to decrease the exposure based on the suggestions to another post.

Peter, your second photograph is so beautiful! Ideal pose, and ideal backdrop.

Wonderful images ANAYV. The colours and details are excellent, although I don't think the shot from the FZ10 quite equals the other two. Do you think that as well?

Lovely shots IAMAI. Its the first time I've seen an image of tadpoles on this forum and a hummer in flight is always worth getting.

Love that Cuckoo shot! Very quiet atmosphere.

Is it as difficult to get to see them as with the european ones? -I`ve never seen one alltho I can here them calling very often.

We have a believe that one will be fine with money if shaking the coins in the purse when hearing the first Cuckoo of the year.

Stunning shots all of them!

Were You experimenting with shutter priority or is it just incidental that all three shots have the same shutter speed?

The turtle was a lucky find on a trail in Guajome Park, Oceanside, CA. Brown pelicans are common at the Oceanside harbor, but always nice to see and photograph.

Thanks for your comments Kohinoor. Generally its not too hard to see them if they are around and you can get relatively close to them for a photograph. I'll have to remember to shake my coins when I hear my first one of the year. I hadn't heard of that belief before.

Two superb shots Dan. The turtle looks great and the pelican in flight is a real gem.

Thanks, Rodger.

My family and I will be traveling to the east coast tomorrow. We'll fly to Maryland and end up in Maine. Who knows what photo ops I may find?

I hope to have something to post upon my return.

Thanks all.

I usually keep the shutter speed higher because I always shoot hand-held, never use a tripod so keeping the shutter speed higher helps me get less blurry shots. I do adjust it a little though depending on what I see in the viewfinder. On the three shots with the same speed they looked ok in the viewfinder and even if one of them didn't and was a little darker I would just adjust in software. I'm not too much into the technical side of photography. Just a point and shoot guy.

Although this wasn't taken this week, I like it so much that I just had to show it. The only time you will see the blue around their eyes is when they are mating.
