Amazing ISO-12800 images! I won't go over ISO-3200 with the A-77 and with birds, not over ISO-1600. That combo you have is a killer with your processing skill.
Yes, that's a Mandarin Duck. All your shots are males. The female looks much like a Wood Duck female.
Wonderful shots of the little chick!
Beautiful selection Franck - and the weather seems to really be cooperating for you this time! Lovely light. The mandarin and your jay are beautiful and really nice captures of the colors on those.
Nice shots. The Jay and ducks are my favorites. The moorhen chicks are so ugly they are cute. We have a lot of them in our wetlands as well. They seem to have a lot of personality at such a young age.
Well the 7S is a camera that is easy to use as you can take photo at any ISO without too much compromize. So in this case I could took these photos of the chick and freeze it because I know that 2000 ISO is noiseless. I would not call it a birding camera but if you need to take photo of birds or animals in low light, this camera is done for you (and that's my case). A computer screen has only 2Mp, even if the 7S has not a lot of MP, 12Mp is still 6 times more than needed, and if you dont crop too much the difference between a 12Mp or a 16Mp or a 20Mp camera on a 2Mp screen is not that much.Boy, I'd love to see a Mandarin duck! The detail on the juvenile Goldcrest is just great. Who would have thought the A7S could be a birding camera!
Very cool looking bird - great coloring! Don't remember ever seeing one posted here. Looks much like a Hairy Woodpecker except for the red underneath.
