I saw this post over at PF.

There is also this rumour of a Pentax Q 4.2mm f1.8 lens . . .

And we just had manual_focus' post on 12 Potential Improvements for a new Q body.

What's everyone's thoughts?

Is there another Q body coming out?

Has anyone heard anything else?

What's on everyone's wish list?

Take care & Happy Speculating!

Hi Glen

I hope the rumor isn't true. Will be a huge disappointed if the Q line comes to an end.

The new patent is a pretty strong indicator that Ricoh is keeping its word, regarding keeping the Q system alive.

I think they need to do a MUCH better job marketing it in the US. Ladies would love it. Hipsters too. 23/1.8 is JUST what is needed to keep it alive. ...and a super tele zoom. A 200-800/4, for example.

Can't wait for the Q8!

I put my wish list in the first thread you linked at pentaxforums.

Yes. It would be disappointing.

Although . . . that's not my gut feeling with this.

I think this may be setting the stage for the next body. (It's been a couple years since the Q-S1 was introduced.)

We'll see what happens at Photokina 2016! :)

To me personally . . . just like I thought that a Nikon D300s successor still made sense . . . I still think the Q makes sense.

On the one hand you have the big dSLR (dinosaurSLR) cameras (of which I have one . . . maybe more . . . ) and on the other hand you have the cell phones.

I like my dinosaurSLR cameras. They let me get the shot in difficult situations, but I don't carry it around with me all the time. :( And I have a great cellphone camera (Sony T3) but I just don't enjoy taking pictures with it. :(

The market in between is waking up big time. 1" sensors all around along with pocketable(ish) APS-C prime lens cameras.

The Q is right in there with that group of cameras IMHO.

Well . . . we'll see.

I'm in a holding pattern for my next GAS fix until after the fall anyway . . . LOL.

Take care & Happy Shooting!

Unfortunately . . . here in Canada (at least in Toronto), Pentax is hard to come by.

You can see them at the big camera stores like Henry's and Vistek. :)

But you don't see them at other stores like BestBuy, Walmart and such. :(

When Target moved into Canada, they had the Pentax WG cameras, so I thought there might be a chance there for Pentax . . . but then Target went and pulled right out of the Canadian market, wiping out Zellars at the same time. :(

Is Pentax big in the US? What stores are they in?

In the U.S. they are in stores like B&H, Adorama and others like that, forget about best Buy, they are strictly Go Pro, Canon, Nikon & Sony, the ones in my area don't even carry mid. & high end Canon & Nikon. I'm not sure about Target.

I picked up the Q to test the crop as a cheep way of getting to 500mm+ It's ok for some things.

My wife saw it and instantly claimed it at it has been her go to camera since.

Yes.

And that is a shame . . . as I'm sure there are many camera buyers that don't go to websites like this and just walk into their Best Buy and ask . . . what should I get?

If a camera is not there to make the immediate sale, then it is not considered. :(
