Well I just bit the bullet and bought the Zhongyi Mitakon Speedmaster 85mm f/1.2 for Nikon.

Can't wait to try it out.

Would love to know what you think about it! I keep coming back to this one, but end up talking myself out of getting it.

Ben,

Have you ever evaluated the Nikon 85mm 1.4 D? Its nicknamed the Cream Machine. Just curious how it would compare to the 85mm 1.2 you are about to try.

Thanks.

Hey Ben do you use your 135/F2D DC very much? Curious because that, and the 85/F1.8G, are on my short list for tele primes. thanks and keep up the fine work, jb

Bought this recently. It is surprisingly sharp at F1.2, although at 1Kg somewhat unwieldy. A good deal for ~$400 USD used
I got it for $720 new :)

So how did the lens work for you? :-)

A couple behind the scenes images shot at f/1.2...I was a bit off on the Mei Mei Lapres eye...very critical focus. The makeup artist Georgios was tack sharp shot at 1600 iso. I decided not to use for the shoot, as it was raining outside and needed to shoot very fast and accurately, so opted for my Nikon 85mm f/1.8 G at f/1.8. You can use this when you have the time to do it correctly without stress.

Thanks for sharing and a good point you have raised.

Also an issue of repairs and sevice shortcomings in the place where I live (Muscat).

Considering Tamron 85 1.8 VC , from the positive reviews .

Cheers

I already have an f/1.8 AF lens in the Nikon 85...I wanted a super insane fast lens, thus the reason for the Mitakon. Just be ready to slow down the process.

I was recently asked to be sponsored by Tamron but declined for now...

Ben, looks like your on a f1.2 kick lately. Don't forget your Nikko 55mm f1.2. I would like to see a few of your elle shots with that too.
