End of massive DSLR (was previously in wrong forum for those worried)

I don't overly- it's just an opinion.

The main thrust of the post is about camera size reduction- I was interested in what other peoples' views were.

True- but I think eventually the monsters (size wise) will eventually become dinosaurs.

Why not- because you won't be able to differentiate yourself from the majority?

Who cares how big it is if it does the job.

Eventually everyone will be able to take DSLR quality photos on small devices- so enjoy your big camera while you can.
..and what if the size allows it to do its job? for one thing your talking balancing larger lenses with larger sensors but even besides that for some people a good size grip is more comfortable and a larger camera provides for better controls.

I'v got a FF DSLR and a Ricoh GXR, the latter is often convenient to use but for serious prolonged shooting I preffer the size(as well as the quality) of the former for the above reasons, fiddling around with little buttons simply isn't as quick and prolonged use of a small grip gives me hand cramp.

I can't wait for the day when everybody does things my way because my way is the only way.

Just the other day I saw someone using a camera I would never use and I couldn't sleep for days.

I have an appointment with my therapist today to help me cope.

I like the size of my DSLRs. They're comfortable to hold for hours, the buttons are easy to find, and they balance well.

I'd love to have a good camera that I can carry in my pocket, but that has a whole other priority - photographic opportunity, rather than photographic quality.

Look, I switched over to mirrorless in part because of size. I'm much happier carrying a camera that's half the weight around my neck all day when I'm travelling.

I'm not however worried about what other people are carrying around. I don't understand the need that people seem to have to convert everyone else to their choice of camera/system. Every choice is a compromise - size/cost/weight/image quality/etc. One shoe does not fit all.

In some ways I like seeing 'non pros' walking around with big 'pro' camera systems and zooms - it helps remind me that as much as I like the idea of getting a full frame DSLR system, I wouldn't want to travel with it! (Studio use is another matter all together!)
