I wouldn't recommend NX-D as a basic editor. It's primarily a raw converter. For converting a raw to a tiff or jpeg it's ok but if you want to do more advanced editing I would look at other options.I intend to try that software for my pre-teen kid, who just got a hand-me-down Nikon. He needs a quick-and-simple way to convert to jpeg and do basic editing, with perhaps some additional editing options. Not looking for anything as complex as Photoshop or even On1.
Do you use NX-D, and would you recommend it for my purpose?
I wish they'd update NX-2...
Wondering about your statement concerning editing in NX-D. Snip shot of NX-D's editing functions. There is: Exposure compensation, White balance, Picture control, Tonal adjustment, Noise reduction, Camera and Lens correction, Straighten, Levels and Curves, Unsharp mask and a bit more. It is quite similar to Lightroom with basic or more advanced options to perform edits. As a free photo editing program, it provides plenty for beginners or advanced users. I like the noise reduction results from this over LR.I wouldn't recommend NX-D as a basic editor. It's primarily a raw converter. Sorry. I should have qualified my comments. I should have said that if you are looking for advanced features such as layers etc. As a 'basic' editor NX-D is fine. It's just not an 'advanced' editor that lets you go to town with creative juices.Wondering about your statement concerning editing in NX-D. Snip shot of NX-D's editing functions.
