I have D2H images - had a play with one pre prod sample today

:)

Just a warning, when i tried viewing any of these files with Nikon Capture, it crashed the program.

As I said, its a preproduction model.

Also this file wont be up for much longer, Im not sure my site can handle the traffic!

.m.

I rang Maxwell (Nikon Australia) yesterday and ask for the availibility of 17-55, they said Spring, it is now cool winter in Sydney, so the D2H might come at the same time, let's say October!

Derrick
Maybe someone could go to that shop and take a nef-file.
dynamic range/blown highlights??
I should have done that.

The shop doesnt have one, the Nikon rep was in just showing the
camera.
It will most likely hit the stores sometime in september.

Thanks

dynamic range/blown highlights??
That wouldn't help much, since no software available today support
the nef-files from the D2H.

You're right, NC is just closing down, same with Nikon Browser. I can´t even set Nikon Browser to another folder again. Do I have to reinstall Nikon View?
It is possible though to view the files with Irfan View.

btw : if you want to view NEFs from current Nikon Cameras you need to install their NEF Plugin. http://www.irfanview.com

Thanks again

Alvaro
Its a nice camera.

More info soon.

Couple things: First thanx for the post with images from the D2h. Second, I used to have irfanview installed. Will this Nikon plug (I couldnt find a SPECIFIC NIKON plug on the site but will look again to see if it was enclosed with the rest of them) read the FULL NEF image or just the thumbnails? (ACDSEE does that)

It is full view, the plugin is in a colection of file-formats, I don´t remember the details, but after 20 min. I got it working. I´m off now, if you don´t manage let me know, I´ll check back tonight.
I solved my problem by taking the files out of the folder which caused NV to crash.

............ not sure on this, image quality is poor in comparison to what I’ve gotten used to with my 1D.

It does look good for Nikon and it has a Tamron lens and one really needs to shoot a few oneself etc, but only average image quality so far.

Correct :-)

Although I belive kula, I think people should take care not to trust EXIF as holy truth..
damn, I forgot to edit the firmware version :D
Are you trying to be funny?
He tries to prove a point.
If you look at the EXIF of his image it says D2X, firmware version
2.00...

Probably came from a D100, and it is real easy to hex-edit this
part of the EXIF-info, since the info is found in clear text within
the file.

Assuming this post is real, why would Nikon let a camera out that takes pictures with more noise than a competiors that is less than half the price. Especially when all the previews of the D2h is fast camera, fast AF, and less noise. In your post you complain or mention two of these issues, the AF and the noise. So again if your post is real, why would Nikon let this camera out and people take pictures with it, with these two issues? It just does not seem to make sense to get people thinking about that before the camera is released, when most are anticipating this amazing fast, low noise, excellent AF Nikon camera.

Fair enough, I agree.

I took about 90 shots with the D2h today, I have an 8fps buffer fill (40shots) of a car driving past, but its pretty shaky and not all that focused.

Id like to see someone fake that.
:P

Its very difficult to control. Any one of the journo's who had a play with the camera so far could have just as easily posted some images. Me, I am not a journo, and I think people would be interested in seeing the images out of a pre prod camera.
Especially when all the previews of the D2h is fast
camera, fast AF, and less noise.
Its a very fast camera. Its the fastest Nikon have made.

Less noise, well that may improve in production models, so its yet to be seen, it might be a bit cleaner than the D1h, which is what they were trying to acheive.

We will see how full production models turn out.
