The Sigma MC-11 adapter

Is B&H the only retailer listing the MC-11 as expected to ship on 4/21? Seems like they would be obliged to e-mail anyone who placed a pre-order through them if the date gets pushed back. With one day to go you might expect that B&H would already know by now if Sigma is ready to drop ship directly from warehouse to the pre-order clients. Anyone here pre-order through them?

Which Sigma IS lens are not made in A-mount?
It would be a lot shorter to list the Sigma lenses that DO have IS in A-mount.

They are:

105mm, 150mm and 180mm macros.
50-500mm
70-200mm

All others are not stabilized or not available.
Sorry,

I have a Sigma 4.5-5.6/70-300mm as Sony A-Mount version. It seems very rare. I compared the stabilizer function on my Sony A57 with the built in function and it seems that if I active both is a little worse than the lens stabilizer. You also observe the stabilizer action of the lens but from the A57 it seems only be active if make a picture.

That lens is discontinued, I'm only counting the ones they are making currently since it's nigh impossible to consider everything that has ever been out there, and getting one is not necessarily practical or easy either.

Quite a many new videos added on Youtube recently, e.g. this one with 150-600C:

That's very positive - the 150-600C is the lens I REALLY want.

I found a couple of videos posted within the last 12 hours:

The first video seems decent AF speed. Even shows AF-C, I believe (menu in Korean).

The second video speaks Vietnamese...

Thanks! very helpful- I've been dying for some videos showing the MC-11 and a6000 in action.

Today I had a chance to play with Sigma MC-11 and both a6000 and A7S (Mark I).

I tested Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 OS (Canon mount), which is not listed as compatible, and Canon 50 f/1.8 STM.

Unfortunately, these lenses made a6000 unresponsive after taking a photo. I had to turn it off to regain any control. AF hunted and could not find focus.

However, they did work somehow on A7S. This body did not freeze, but was unable to find focus, too.

I hoped for something more, but it's worth noting that these lenses were not meant to work with this adapter.

It's unfortunate that it doesn't work with Sigma 17-50 f2.8 an excellent lens. I also own this lens and A6000 I use these combo with Viltrox II mainly in manual focus, hunts in auto focus mode. This adapter, Techart III does not work at all with lens and A6000

.

Your observation n comments after using the mentioned combo are much needed n absolutely priceless for Sony apsc users ...at this very point in time ! I assume that for many of us sigma mc11 is just worthless if it does not at all work with any sigma 17-50 2.8 (OS or non OS ) !

...n this very finding makes many of us to question any potential a6300 purchase which in itself is very very capable apsc gadget ....

Thank You for your post !

How does the performance of this adapter and lens in combination with the A6000 tell you or anyone else anything useful with regards to the A6300?

So far it seems this adapter works well and as advertised with the A7II, A7RII and the A6300 - in combination with the lenses Sigma announced it would support.

Totally agree.

Unfortunately, I'm not able to let you know, if and how Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 behaves on a6300 with MC-11, but you should not jump to conclusions and reject a6300 based on my a6000 experience.

Cheers.

I pre-ordered the MC-11 adapter at B&H about two weeks ago. Was informed via email on the 21st that my order shipped and is now in transit - with the expected delivery date of 4/27 by UPS. So it does appear that those who pre-ordered the MC-11 adapter are being shipped out now. Yesterday I checked and it was listed as being "in-stock", but currently it's listed as "back-ordered" for both the MC-11 lens mount adapters - as well as B&H's MC-11 adapter and compatible Sigma Art Lens packages.

I currently have a Sony a6000. I also just acquired a used (mint condition) Sigma 17-70mm f2.8-4 DC OS Macro Contemporary for EOS Mount lens for less than $200.00 on eBay. Even adding in the cost of the MC-11 adapter ($249), it's still around the same overall price I'd have to pay for a new copy of this lens without the adapter. And by now owning the MC-11 adapter, I can consider buying one or two of Sigma's great Art Lenses for my use on my a6000 that have nearly the same AF function capabilities that the Sony/Zeiss E-Mount lenses offer, but at a substantial discount in overall cost.

If the Sigma MC-11 is anywhere near as good and versatile as some of the preliminary testing with various Sigma/Canon lenses seem to be indicating, then this adapter may really be a game changer for current owners of Sony's E-Mount cameras - instantly broadening our available of quality lens options at more affordable price points.

Kudos to Sigma!

Can't wait for your opinion on the MC-11 with a6000 and 17-70 f/2.8-4.

Will update this forum with my own first hand opinions as soon as I've have the adapter in hand and had some time to test it out with the Sigma 17-70 f2.8-4 DC OS Lens on the a6000.

I currently just have the Sony 16-50mm f3.5-5.6 PZ kit lens - which is light and fairly responsive - but woefully lacking in it's general optical quality. I've heard some really good things about the Sigma 17-70mm lens, so I'm looking forward to seeing if it's a good all-round zoom lens option for the a6000 adapted with the MC-11...

If you haven't been there, there is much discussion of the MC-11 in the E-mount full frame forum http://www.dpreview.com/forums/1064 Some interesting posts.

My guess is that the MC-11 will work as well on the A6300 as it does on the A7R II.

Maybe a less expensive alternative to Sony's own 16-70 F4?

Anyone had a chance to the Sigma 18-35 F1.8 with the Sigma MC-11 on the A6000 (not A6300)?

There is another video with a6000
