I used to shoot with the 85 F1.8G on D610 and my older D5100, but didn't use much on the D750 as I was in love with the 70-200 2.8.

Recently, I restarted shooting with the 85F1.8G and loving it as a fantastic budget portrait lens.

Here is a set of shots I took with the D750 + 85 1.8G combination. Models were my little 6-year-old daughter and my friend's 2-year-old daughter.

The combo works really well and after fine tuning, it is producing images I really like.

Hope you like the images

Excellent images for sure! I agree that the D750 and 85 f/1.8 G make a great pair for portraits.

Thanks. I am going to shoot more with it.

I would encourage you to proactively pick out less distracting, more complimentary backgrounds instead of just relying on extremely shallow dof to turn them into mottled blobs of blurriness.

Extremely good images, anirbana.

Especially like the diagonal cropping of the B&W shots.

The quality of this lens wide open is amazing,

Love the way the two year old looks she has been caught doing something she shouldn't :-)

Agree with Suntan regarding the "busy" backgrounds on some.

Regards

Mike

Thanks guys. Appreciate your comments. I understand your point on busy backgrounds. These images were taken in a casual way after fine tuning the lens and not shot for a specific purpose or

I understand your point on busy backgrounds. These images were taken in a casual way after fine tuning the lens and not shot for a specific purpose or outside while having fun. The ones with the toddler were taken at a party and again not shot with tidy portraits in mind.

Then ignore my comment.

Superb shots. Nice work.

The most important thing is that you were there with your camera to record this time in their lives. Personally I like some variety, so there are no wrong options, just options

Very nice images indeed! What fine-tune setting did u use? (-10, etc...) Cuz I'm having troubles with my D750, 85 1.8g combo. Its currently on -17 or so... I'm wondering is that normal..
