IR: So I tried the floppy thing

You can use unexposed, developed slide film such as Velvia as an
infrared filter as well. The medium format will fit when it's cut
to size. Some people stack 1 or 2 layers of the film. to obtain
the desired effect.

One thing I think that you people are not considering is that the
optical quality of these makeshift filters seems to be highly
questionble. While it may be fun to experiment with these things
and they are cheap alternatives, I would never consider using them
for any serious photography work.
^^^ with that word being the difference :)

However, it has still seem to have done a good job. good enough for me at least. Only concerns that came about for me were noise and sharpness level. The noise being from nightshot, the sharpness I have not tested. luckily I'm not professional enough to care right now. :)

I think I misunderstood your original post fonebone.......... I used the same item to block the emitters...the centre of an old floppy disk, but I also used an IR Filter and an ND8 Filter as well.

My post about the FIX-A-LOO rubber washer was about blocking the emitters, I will still use an IR and ND Filter..........this washer just makes it easy to block the emitters without scratching the camera, it also wont fall off when you take the Filters off either.

Sorry if anyone thought I actually took photos using just the Black Rubber Washer.........I am using it only to block the emitters.
