Cheap 600mm Lens

Hi Joao,

The Sigma 50-500 seems to give great results with the D100 but not with the Fuji S2, so if you must have the Fuji I would advice you to do a search in the Fuji DSLR forum on that lens before buying it. The S2 really needs the very best glass.

How about the nikkor 80-400 vr with 1.4x tc? Does the Kenko Pro work/maintain the VR functionality?

The answer is simple.
Here in Portugal you can't rent a 600mm anywhere. :-(

just curious what are your subjects?...you shoot with the 600 will be everyday?

TOTAL COST: $750-$850 US (that's a cheap 600mm)

I shoot Surf. The national championship.

This weekend I shot with the sigma 170-500 and 135-400. The photos came out great but.... I'm still not fully pleased.

Nice shot (except for the blown branches on the left). Where do you get such a low price for the 300 f/4 Nikkor? A brand new is no less than $900.

The contrast is not as good as with a "normal" lens, but it's not bad at all (you can easily adjust the contrast in Photoshop).
