Godox TT685S

The X1 for Canon and Nikon have 5 groups, I am not sure of the Sony version. I am still waiting on the X! that I ordered a week ago. I ordered on amazon and just checked and still states that it has shipped the day after order and nothing after that. I am using the 685 to control 2ea 180's and 1ea 360 and have tel on camera. Should be an interesting setup for Saturday's event, the size and weight being my only concern also.

Clarifying: I'd still use a 685 as the trigger. I'd use the 600 as one of my off-camera flashes.
So for just a few dollars more than getting an X1 and moving a 685 off camera, I can just get a 600 and keep the 685 on camera ... and then I have four flashes, not 3, which is handy.

Trade-off is size and losing the option to go to 5 groups if needed as I build out the collection more later.
Yes, I see. Silly me.

I still think you will need a trigger though. Imagine you are going travelling or simply doing street photography. You want to take one flash and have the ability to use it off camera. Packing 2 flashes rather than a flash and a trigger takes up much more space and weight. And for US$50.....

Interesting! From the Godox website X1-Ts: Setting the Camera

To trigger X1T-S, please set camera's flash mode to fill flash, auto flash, slow flash or rear curtain flash.

X1T-S cannot be triggered when the camera is set to wireless lighting mode (WL).--

i don't see much information in the manual, but that would be the only way to do TTL pass true

that would allow you to put the XT1 on the camera and a flash on top of that

that is what i am looking for, a flash on the camera and transmitter that fires 3 other flashes

The tt685s has a built in radio transmitter as well as receiver, so if you want a flash on camera you can use the flash as the radio transmitter and you don't need xt1 at all. You only need the xt1 if

(1) you need to control more than 3 groups of flashes.

or

(2) you don't like the ergonomics of an on camera flash, and would prefer a lighter transmitter and to free up all your flashes for off camera duty...
Exactly!!

I am not a video person but here is the way I plan to use this weekend. Flash on camera in TTL mode firing my other two 360 in manual mode.....

Hey guys, got my TT685s today but they didn't ship my x1 trigger yet.

tried to get it to hss mounted on top of my camera (a7r) but couldn't.

Is this impossible or am I missing something?

ive never tried to set up hss before.

thanks for your help!

With the TT685 a and if you are in the TTL mode, there is no need for any adjustments. Simply increase your shutter speed past the synch speed and you will be in HSS mode.

If you are in manual mode there is an dedicated button to press under the lower right hand side of screen "synch Mode", press that to enable HSS in manual mode.....

Yes in TTL mode you just the shutter speed and fire. In Manual Mode the menu will change at the bottom and if you go to the very last button on screen, it should say "synch" press that to toggle the HSS.....

Hello

Can you use HSS mode in Witstro AS360 + XTR-16 to you X1T-S

It is very good news. I have two Witstro AS360 and i order TT685S + X1T-S + two XTR-16.

Thank you to informations.

Which AC units work with XT1?

If I don't need battery power, should be cheaper.

TTL? HSS?

when you mount flash on a7r?

Sorry Stan, didn't see your post.

I'll have a look and let you know later today the dimensions for the flash.

The TT685s is the first flash to specifically work with the X1 trigger system from Godox. It will be followed by ad360ii and ad600TTL which have will also have built in receivers TTL/HSS but are portable battery powered flash as well as the lithium battery powered VN860 speedlites. The first AC powered flash will be the QT600ii which has been announced with internal receiver. However it is pretty high specced due to its fast recycle time (IGBT) and ability to shoot up to 10 frames a second.

I suspect cheaper units with this upgrade will follow but you can guess that HSS/TTL isnt a high priority for places that have AC power such as a studio.
