I'm an Aperture orphan. I gritted my teeth and opted for the free trial of LR CC. The trial period is Seven Days? Everything I've read said thirty days.

I contacted Adobe this morning to learn that there's no way to extend the trial period.and only one trial copy can be downloaded.

What did I do wrong -- other than not going to C1 first?

What about a trial of the standalone version?

What standalone trial version ! Last time I looked you could only trial CC, if you subsequently purchased standalone version licence you loose CC features and Apps.

Sadly correct. They've changed it since I last looked.

About a week ago the website Leica Rumors quoted a Leica press release announcing that, due to Adobe having ended the Lightroom perpetual license, Leica would no longer be bundling Lightroom with new cameras, and instead would include a 90-day demo of Lightroom CC. This new policy was to take effect beginning April 1, so naturally some people assumed it was an April Fool's joke, though moderators at Red Dot Forum claimed that it was not. A few days later the story was pulled, leading me to suspect that either it did turn out to be an April Fool's joke, or that Adobe had sent a cease and desist order. I'm still not sure which it was, but I see that the Lightroom 6 standalone option seems to have vanished from Adobe.com. Or at least I can't find it, and it used to be clearly, if not prominently, displayed at the bottom of the main Lightroom page.

Anybody know what's going on?

Thanks to each of you who responds. I did indeed find only the combo was offered for a trial.

I may try that link but expect (since I'm already known to them for my current trial) to be rebuffed. The idea of renting LR and PS for $120 per year on a monthly lease is not a big attraction.

My enjoyment of this hobby varies inversely to time spent at my computer desk. Aperture was just right, and PS hadn't been in my workflow since Aperure appeared on the scene.

I'm getting some Capture One familiarization/basic training from Derrick Story on lynda.com Were it not for the cost, I'd jump now. Probably will eventually and then hope Affinity Photo adds a DAM, etc.

Thanks again to those answered.

Strange, that link works here on 3 independent computers... hope it works.

The irony is, I haven't been able to use a CP1 Pro Trial since V7. Every time I start the app I have zero days remaining. I've never successfully used V7, 8 or 9 trials :-x

I must have downloaded the Capture One demo five or six different times over the years, beginning with version 6 or 7, and I got the full trial period each time! Maybe we're in different regions with different demo policies set by cookies or something. Who knows?

I had problems with Phase One's online authentication syster over and over and over, even after I had paid. Quite frustratiing. It is a tad cheaper than Lr CC if you regularly upgrade (sometimes you have to), but then again you don't get Ps.

The perpetual license version of Lr and older versions should be here: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/lightroom-downloads.html

Thanks. Used to be able to find that on the US site. Will have to try again. I signed up for Creative Cloud to get Adobe Bridge CC. When I boot my computer, Adobe asks to make 12 internet connections before doing anything.

On the UK site I clicked on Menu Products Window Click on Lr and scrolled to the bottom of page. Box for Lightroom 6 click Buy Now. You get another CC window Click No Thanks, You will get a window My Cart. Next to I want to buy it says Full then there is a small arrow for you to select Upgrade.
It's no longer on the US website.

LOL. Yeah. But since Bridge runs without a license, maybe you could use Little Snitch or something like it to block those connections. Of course, how long before Adobe takes away the ability to run Bridge for free?

Sigh.
