Hello,

I purchased the Lexar Jumpshot Compact Flash Reader (USB) and it won't read my new Transcend 1GB Compact Flash Card.

The reader works fine with my Lexar 512 WA card but it doesn't seem to like with my new transcend card.

I searched and found a few people were having problems with their Firewire readers, but my problem is with the USB version.

Anyone else with this problem the the Jumpshot USB?

Are there any patches or driver updates available?

Please help!

Thanks...

I emailed Lexar for support regarding my problem...

Here's the email I received:

Dear Customer,

Thanks for choosing our products

I am sorry, Our Jumpshot cable reads only Lexar Media USB enabled Compact Flash Cards.

It will not read any other brand Cards.

Save yourself the trouble of being restricted to Lexar media.... DON'T buy their READERS.

:(

Not all Lexar readers are limited to "USB enabled" compact flash cards.
Only the JumpShot.

Lexar says that it is "Specifically designed to work with Lexar Media compactflash cards". They should more forcefully point out that it
will not work with other (standard) compact flash cards.

Is it possible to return it?

I still think thery make great memory cards.

The 'jumpshot cable' will only work with Lexar 'usb enabled' cards. That's a pretty well known fact since lexar came out with this 'jumpshot' idea a while back. Better pay closer attention to what kind of 'reader' you're buying!

Lexar does make 'regular' USB CF readers that will work with any CF card.

Lexar cards, which have a "USB Enabled" indication on the card & packaging, have a USB controller built into the card itself, while other manufacturers have that circuitry built into their card readers.

I guess the idea was to enable their jumpshot readers to be very small, but the Sandisk ones and others are pretty small, not much bigger.

I suppose the Lexar "USB enabled" could make for smaller devices such as PDAs etc, and maybe that was their thinking, who knows.....

one thing for sure - Jumpshot readers only read the Lexar "usb enabled" cards.

Cheers,
Cory

it's not how many you take, it's how many you make.

I have a Lexar USB 2.0 Multi-Card Reader that reads five different media types and works well with three different brands of compact flash cards that I have. It is also rather small (3.25"x2.625"x.5" thick).

You just bought the wrong reader.
