Can anyone tell me if the Tamron SP 70-300mm with Sony E mount is compatible with all of the A6300's focus modes? In other words, will I be able to use focus area settings like:

Wide

Zone

Center

Flexible Spot: M

Expand Flexible Spot

Lock-on AF: Flexible Spot M

Thanks in advance. There's a $100 rebate available for the Tamron SP 70-300mm which makes it < $400!

I have tons of great Canon glass and the Metabones IV adapter, but I want full support for the above focus area settings.

Do you mean Tamron SP 70-300mm with Sony A mount?

I think he does. I own that lens top and I'm curious if that works.

Well I'm not sure. I thought this lens was available with E Mount which I could use with the A6300 or A7R II without an adapter.

If you go to B&H and search for 725211003137 the lens comes right up.

I have lots of Canon L lenses (300 2.8, 400 2.8, 70-200 2.8, etc.) But those lenses (when connected via the Metabones IV) do not support all of the focusing technology built into the A6300.

No it is not.

But you can buy an A mount version and then buy the LA-EA3 adapter but I dont know which AF mode are supported by the adapter ?

Then the lens is not stabilized.

Not by myself, but I gave it to my cousin, a 60D shooter who has one of those lenses, to try. He liked it. However, the 55-250mm IS II is supposed to be a pretty good lens itself, so the difference may be marginal at best.

That's what I figured. There sharpness scores are almost equal on DXO and I think the 55-250mm STM shows better at the long end wide open, even compared to the Tamron at 200mm. Thanks
