Hi all,

there's a very tempting Canon 80-400 USM II second hand for sale in my town.

I wonder how good is the image quality and the autofocus speed and accuracy on A7rII with Metabones adapter ?

Thanks for your feedback !

It's OK, nowhere near as fast as on my 7D M2.

I haven't tried birds in flight but i wouldn't expect it to do that well.

For perched birds or slow moving ducks it works fine.

Not much help here but more surprised.

From memory my 100-400 (MkI only) was an indifferent performer on a Sony A7R MkI - but it is ages since I tried that combination. On M4/3 bodies it works at quite acceptable AF speed and accuracy.

I would have thought that the MkII camera body and MkII Lens combination would have been made for each other.

So it might be true that EF lenses do perform better on M4/3 bodies with Metabones adapters than they do on Sony A7 series MkII bodies. I must re-try my combination on Sony A7 series back to back with the M4/3 bodies even if they are only MkI variety.
