Nice shot!
I have really only used the EE and EE+B-300 using auto focus. I
know using macro mode works better but is slower. These are the
settings I use for the EE and EE+B-300 to get the best focus out of
auto focus from full wide to full zoom. The marks just give
approximate positions, but I don't think the exact position is
critical. I have found, when using auto focus, setting the EE
closer to "Close focus" (long length) using the B-300 and more to
"Long Focus" (short length) works best over the full zoom. You may
want to try and see what you get.

I've tried setting to infinity, but I prefer macro. You will
definitly find some of those wind surfer photos a challenge, but
hey the film is already paid for.
This combo also requires lots of light as you have probably have
already figured out, but it's a real kick in the pants when you get
a good one. The the more you shoot, the better the photos get.
Keep shooting.
Trent
Hope some of this helps you to get in the ball park.
