I have a space problem so I am limited to a single camera/lens combo. Taking my family with 3 grandsons and I want to capture as much as possible. I have narrowed my choice down to 2 cameras. The Fuji X100T or the Fuji XE2/ 18-55. I also have a Ricoh GR or Panasonic LX100 that could be considered. Please help. schmally1

Fuji XE2/18-55

You'll have the flexibility to get good portraits at 55mm when your grandkids are hugging Mickey and other characters. 18mm will come in handy to get a shot of Cinderella Castle and the Tree of Life as well as wider views of some of the rides. And then everything in between.

No question for me. Because I have done it myself. Hehe
Which one focuses faster? The X-E2 or the X100T? That might help you swing towards one camera in particular.

I personally would think the X-E2 w/ the 18-55 would give you more options for pictures.

Hm, I am not sure how useful other people's opinion is in your case? Which camera can you master best, which is the most complicated, do other people use it too?

Personally, I could probably get the most keepers with the x100.

I did this last year. With two camera systems, four AF lenses among them, and a dozen Minolta lenses, I was paralyzed with too many choices. I got the X-E1 and 27mm pancake shortly before the trip, and ended up taking the the Fuji/27 and a Samsung NX with 30mm f/2 pancake. They are practically the same size, and I wanted to do a compare/contrast. Over a several day trip, each day I picked one camera to carry, and each fit nicely in the pocket of my shorts. Both cameras had 'normal' lenses and worked well for a variety of conditions.

All of which is to say... I'd take the X100T; The GR is pretty wide at 28mm eq., the LX100 is probably bulkier than the X100T with that big square-edged lens, and the 18-55 is going to be in your way all day. The 35mm eq. lens on the X100T should be wide enough to get some context in your shots, while still allowing you to get portraits of your family without wide-angle distortion. It's also compact enough to not bug you...

Have a fun trip!

I made a family trip to Disney in 2012 with only my X100s. After years of trips there taking multiple DSLR's with f2.8 zooms it was very freeing having only one small camera to carry. I had to think more about the images I made and where to position myself since my only option was to foot zoom if needed. I was very pleased with my results but in the end found the single 35mm FOV lens to be too restricting for my style. Our last trip to Disneyland in 2015 I took two bodies and two lenses. I used an X-E2 and and X-T1 with the 16mm on one and the 56mm on the other. This was the same kit I used in Edinburgh and Paris this past year with the addition of bringing the 35 f1.4 with me on that trip. The Fuji cameras and lenses are so much smaller than the two EOS 7D's I used to carry with the zooms that even two bodies on those trips were a pleasure to carry.

While I loved the freedom of the small, discreet X100S (with its brilliant fill flash) I found that the range offered in my two or three lens combo was much more useful for my shooting style. In your case I'd go with the X-E2 with the 18-55. In the scheme of things it's still tiny and unobtrusive.

Thanks to all that gave such experienced and helpful advice! I have decided to take the Fuji XE-2 and the 18-55. I will then have a little tele to shoot my boys on the rides that grampa decided to sit out. Now, if I could just find a rich relative to bankroll this adventure, hmmmm.

It seems somebody on my ignore list has already given you a tickable answer?? The LX100 will of course give you excellent 4K video, in 10 years time a fabulous piece of digital recording to have ... none of that silly Super 8 footage I used to take some 400 or so years ago ...

The LX100 is a fabulous little camera and really good enough for 12-15" prints.

Watch at 4K, this was the FIRST video I took with the LX100, manual focus, edited in EDIUS.

If changing focal lengths is not an issue (often of course it might be at Disneyworld??) then the X100T would be better imo.

Went to Universal in Orlando for spring break with just X100T to avoid being slowed down and have fun. It was great. This should give you ideas. Everything was snappy-snap, with no set-up, often while walking. Everything are straight out of camera jpegs.

If only one camera and lens then lx100. High quality photos and 4k videos. All focal lenghts yo will need on a little body. The x100 is very special for more specific purposes. A bigger body like the x-e2 and a zoom doesn't make a lot of sense as a unique body-lens solution.

If you have small kids then take your iphone.
